Bad news. :( Tara, please pass Falc my wishes for a speedy recovery.
Keep us posted.
Thanks Guys
I've only just got back Falc's in a London hospital and we've had a nightmare getting in and out
he's broken seven ribs down hi right side were the truck hit him he's also got a bruised lung they are keeping him for observation and probably for upto two weeks although we hope he will be out alot sooner he's very down as to be expected and is on morphine for the pain and oxygen to help his breathing, other than that he will be OK.
He's angry at the truck driver that didn't see him the bike is at his work place so we have to get that back some how if someone has a trailer we can borrow for a day that would be useful.
Thanks for all the support guys xx

Thanks I will feel bit better now i've seen him and yes your right he's alive and thats the main thing
he was only going 20mph but it managed to pentrate his textiles he had H &G textiles brand new from christmas i say had the docs had to cut his trousers off
i know this gets said alot but wear your leathers guys we all think we are invinceable even the most careful of us can get hurt
Take it easy out there
As long as his insides aren't trying to be outside then it sounds like he'll do fine.
How bad is the bike?
I've got a small Erde trailer, it's sitting in my back garden pretending to be a bird table or other such garden ornament...
... but I do mean small. There's no way it would safely take a bike upright, but down on it's side, well strapped in - it should manage for a rough recovery.
As I say, not the best of options but if it beats forking out to hire one you're more than welcome to borrow it. Much as I'd like to bring it down to you the MG is off the road and that's my only vehicle with a towbar - so you would have to collect I'm afraid, but I'd chuck you some petrol money for the journey and to bring it back again.
Just PM if you need it.
He's in the Central Middlesex/Park Royal if anyone wants to visit on Abbey ward in room 15 i'm sure he'll be pleased to see you
Glad to hear its not worse.
Look after yourself too.
If theres anything I can do please give me a shout.

****.
Breaking ribs, especially a rake of them, can lead to collapsed lungs, very easily. And, knackered lungs are not what you want when you are on the ground fighting for your life.
Glad to hear he is reasonabley ok, and that he has someone like you looking after him.
Listen, T, he is going to be rightly bollixed by the meds for a while. I just came off a load of them after an op. He might have shakes, weakness, confusion, all sorts of things, even fear.
Just keep him with in reach of loads of water, and tell him it will be a while for them to wair off, and its normal. They told me 10 days, and they were right. It takes time, and its normal.
Best.
Jonboy Quiff you did make me laugh thank you for that
what a difference a day makes indeed
Thanks Phillipmac i'll tell him about the meds he's got loads of bottled water and i'll take some more today
I Just want to say thanks for all the kind words and support from you guys i was pretty shook up myself yesterday when i heard and you guys have been brilliant as always you are in these situations
Take it easy out there

****e Tara I have only just read this.
Please give that malingering bloke of yours a good kicking and tell him he can't spend his days on his backside. otherwise he will be coming home expecting you to dispense the TLC. As a good Lancashire Lass I know you will be expecting him to be getting his lardy **** back to work, after all it was not every rib. These soft suvveners, any excuse.
Seriously, please pass on our wishes for a speedy recovery, and don't make him laugh as I know only too well how busted ribs hurt when the giggle nerve is stimulated. So keep Verna away

you will need to be gentle with him tara having him lying on his back resting his knee and ribs. im sure you will be able to find something to do while we are on the rideout. even if its propping up the bar and getting bbq fired up for us. oooh you could do the bbq and beer shopping seeing you have a car. that was a flash of inspiration if you didnt guess

Find out if it is cartilage damage in the knee. If it is, and the doctors/physios are being a bit doom and gloom about it, PM me.
A mate of mine, rode for Ireland in the Olympics, and now runs a cycling team out of Manhattan here, had very bad cartilage damage to one of his knees from crashes. I had damage, but less so. The docs were all very negative about it. He talked to his sister, who was Lance Armstrong's soignier at the time, (a soignier is sort of a medical personal assistant), and she advised him to go onto a certain medication. I forget the name of it. It must be perscribed, and it is reasonabley new, and generally known more to sports medics etc.
Anyway, it worked extremely well to rebuild the joint cartilage. My mate (and I) made complete recoveries.
It is not something that you will want to think about right away, you will wait until you are reffered to see a physio, etc. Then you can ask your physio about it the drug, and see what they say. If they are not interested, find a sports physio. If you are not sure, go to your local rugby team, and ask them which one they use. There is a big differance in attitudes between normal physios and sports physios. Both are useful (my mum was a normal physio, I am not slagging them).

I have a confession.
I saw the title of the thread and then saw the poster and immediately assumed it was one of the following:
Tara announces undieing love to Falc (again)
Tara has given Falc a "dear John" via the org.
Falc has proposed and Tara has invited the org to the wedding.
Or something else that involves the wonderful saga of Tara & Falc.
Because of this I sort of skimmed past the post and did not read it. When it got to 5 pages I thought I had better check it out.
Going by the information provided, looks like it was one that could have turned very nasty indeed. Glad Falc is not more seriously injured. Here's hoping for a quick recovery
He does know that this was quite bad timing on his part with AR06 only 4 weeks away :?:

I would say he got off relatively lightly as well could have been so much worse especially as it involved a lorry
indeed bad timing for the AR06 but on the bright side they're taking a car up so they can do the beer and bbq shopping whilst we're out on the ride
