I don't want to see any pics of your bockwurst on this site thank you.
Never heard it called that before.

I've always thought that if I had to choose the way I die, I would choose somthing that, when informing someone of my demise, the cause of death would be so silly, that it would be impossible for them to keep a straight face.

killed by a sausage isn't half bad :D

I've never heard of a bird called the Swallowed before.
Might send a quick e-mail to Bill Oddie, see if he knows anything about it.... Now go wash your mouth out!

Golly Mr Xerbraski,

That picture took me back a few years! That looks very like a Thuringian Rotwurst - perhaps a Westphalian Grosswurst? When I was a young gal, and living in Schloss Kunstwerk (just outside Memmelsdorf in the Black Forest), I could take three or four of those each night - washed down with some good Weissbier, of course. But then, when one is young, one just gulps it down without a thought.

These days, as a slightly more mature lady, I know that size isn't everything and have developed a taste for the much smaller, but spicier Nurnberger. I can easily take a dozen of those over the course of an evening - maybe with a Puls Brau or two. And what is lost in size is more than matched by flavour!

For the seasoned Wurst Essenmeister, it usually comes down to a choice between tucking into a couple of really big ones, or lots and lots of smaller ones.

Dear Camilla,

I think you should book an excursion with your friends and take a litle jaunt down here to Spain. Here you will find in many a bar that the waiters take great delight in displaying their well seasoned sausages, on hooks above the bar.

It has not been unknown for a visting lady who's normal air of formality has been dissolved by the odd glass of Rioja to begin to leer at the hanging members and to enquire if there would be any chance that the camarero would offer her an inch or two of his banger. 8)
