Finally:

Reconstruction completed yesterday evening... and a 2 hour blast this morning just to let her stretch her legs (so to speak). All running very nicely - she's one happy motorbike :D

And so am I :D

Looks very nice mate.

Is it the light or is the seat panels a slightly different colour to the seat hump?

Well done Bill. Just in time for the winter so you can put it back into storage again.

All the same colour, but things have come out a little dark on the photo. The paint job is far from perfect, but the overall effect is pretty good I think. Just need to find myself some white Suzuki stickers of the correct size.

BA: Just in time for winter? Having had a glorious blast in the sunshine this weekend, I think my timing was pretty much spot on! ;)

Steve: We went from Tunbridge Wells... A264 to East Grinstead, then A22 and a cut across to Cross in Hand, down to Horam and a short stop at Wessons, then through to the Burwash road and on to Hurst Green. A short jaunt up the A21 and take the turning to Hawkhurst, through there towards Cranbrook and then cut back through to Goudhurst and back to Tunbridge Wells.

About 90 miles I think - a cracking ride. I think the 9 month rest has done a small wonder for my arm since its squashing in 2004. Right-handers not proving a problem now where as I had some mental or physical tick that was keeping me upright before. :?

Oh hurrah! I was beginning to think Lord Lucan would turn up sooner than the finished article.

Looks great! Look forward to seeing it in the flesh and having a sunny trundle in your company soon.

My bike's the same as the last time you saw it. Just older. And dirtier.

I'm not that partial to red bikes, but that's one of the few that I find very pleasing to the eye.

Nice work.

Not a fan of red but that is quite nice, why the change of colour out of curiosity?

Well a number of factors really... the bodywork was rather scratched and bashed, and the ermax undertray had basically disintegrated. It'd been a blue bike for a couple of years and I rather fancied the idea of "having a go".

It was a colour that I'd always liked, and I saw a photoshopped image of a bike in BRG from one of the other forum members. I thought the darker deeper colour suited the bike well, and that matched the red I had in mind.

I wouldn't do it again in a hurry though... not without spare panels. It really is a pain in the backside to do well. I'm lucky that the finish is good - mainly because it was sprayed by my Uncle who has years of professional experience.

Ahh, I was gonna ask what it cost to sparay the body work of a nekkid but I would imagine not too much if your uncle did it. Thinking about my less than perfect paint. Do you have to send you V5 off to the DVLA and get it changed?

All the paint, lacquer and thinners cost a total of £40 - and that's 2-pack paint (hold your breath). However, that was at trade prices. Uncle didn't want anything but I expect I'll buy them (him and my Aunt) lunch at the pub at some point.

[EDIT] oh yes, DVLA... yes technically I should change my V5 to say "RED" instead of "BLUE", which I will do at some point.

Having see the paint up close & personal, so to speak, it's a good job, you can see it was applied by a pro,( better than I could do), not perfect, but then I've never seen a perfect job, but ten times better than Suzuki do.

I even like the colour.

Cheers Mark.

Have you informed the DVLA of it's new colour?

I pass loads of SV's to and from work... just a case of working out which one is Luke. I'm fairly certain he's not the skinny blonde woman in yello leathers, open faced helmet with a yellow K2.

Only on Fridays

On Shaftesbury Avenue/Cambride Circus - you went straight over and really f**ked off some scooter riders; cat among the pigeons style! I turned left up Charing Cross Rd.

I should really pop down to Soho again on a Friday - It's just the desire to drink beer rather than coffee that keeps me away!

Screw them... they get in my way every day, I have no sympathy, they should get proper licences, and realise that getting first in the queue to leave the lights, but be the slowest and most incompetant vehicle on the road, is going to **** people off.
