Had a fantastic day out today. Rode to Oxford to mee up with my Dad and we then made our way to Mallory on some nice twisty roads. Had a great ride there. Cracking weather and we got serenaded by fours, triples, twins and singles, all on open megas. Some parade laps and some racing too. We also had a wander around the paddock. Then had an even better ride home going cross country on the A4455/A239 and A40. Must have been a good ride as I got some heat into my D220's!

Had a play with my new-ish camera (350D) so here are a few piccies I've taken. Photobuckets seems to have re-sized and compressed them so apologies for the quality!

There were all sorts of bikes there:

Manx Nortons

Oh and a V12 Maserati:

Plus some famous people too:
Dave 'Crasher' Croxford:

John Cooper:

And some fella who is a bit like a prehistoric Valentino Rossi, goes by the name of Ago:

The 'old timers' weren't hanging about either! The parade laps were really informal races.

Great noise and fantastic spectacle.

Edit to resize Ago's ego, he was too big for his boots!

There's some class machinery there. You ever been to Sammy Millers museum in the New Forest? Best bike museum I've ever been to. Puts the National one to shame and only a couple of quid to get in.

Yeah it's a great place isn't it. I grew up in Romsey, not too far away.

Sammy was there today with some nice bikes. He was throwing the bikes around nicely as well! Very smooth rider.

As I've said elsewhere....you LUCKY guy!! Thanks for the fantastic photos of some great bikes and riders. Just a word on Dave Croxford: it was NEVER "Crasher" to his face - only "Crocket". (Which had a very similar connotation, if you know what I mean   )

Ta.

Yeah, Croxford didn't look like the type of guy to rib about falling off! Was so impressed at the way Surtees and Miller were chucknig the bikes around. Very smooth, he may be old but Surtees wasn't shy about getting on the power. He almost came a cropper at the bus stop though!

Great day out and well worth the trip. Not that riding the SV is a hardship mind!

I remember standing at The Complex at Thruxton when Steve Spray and Trevor Nation were riding the Nortons. Rob Mac on his OW01 would get eaten up by this little black dot over the back of the circuit, the Nortons were in a league of their own on power. A real handful through the chicane though. They really howl too, weird exhaust note, as you'd expect I guess. It was being ridden well yesterday and eating up bikes along the straight. Not as much as Howie Mainwaring on a ROC Yamaha though, V4 2-strokes rule!

Oh yes!

I Love the numbering on the Rotary 66 on the front and 20 on the back, I believe he came first and second in the race.

That Nš7 bike looks like he's picked up a piece of drain pipe? Great piccies.

That's not a drain pipe, that's a device for firing gobs of oil at the rider behind. These are british bikes you know, the oil has to go somewhere.
