I really want a brand new SV650S, but I think the black frames which are standard on the K5 & K6 models are aren't nearly as sexy looking as the silver frames on the pre K5 models.
Does anyone have any experience of spraying the black frame sliver?
I'm not convinced that it would look very good but i'd really like to do it so any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Krys

Why not just save yourself a few quid and buy a 2nd hand one that has a silver frame already?

When it comes to selling it later people may think you have something to hide under that spray job. Besides, the black looks better, especially with black body work!

The main thing that made me pick the SV other than the price was its black frame! Why on earth would you want to spray it silver. I imagine it will be a pain in the **** of a job too!! :?

i love the silver frame on my k3 and i do agree with villers that the black looks good to but the black suzukis seem to loose the finish on the paintwork faster.

Personally I think the silver frame is much better...especially if you have a blue bike..although I am more than a little biased :D

Seriously thought if you after a silver frame either save some cash and look for a second hand K3/K4 or you could go for the thou. If you had it profesionally done I'm sure it will look good but I can't imagine it would be cheap.

Are you mad ?

Just buy a silver framed one, Personally I think both frames are ugly compared to the curvy  but the black does hide it well

Much prefer black frames but it is personal choice. What is not personal choice is spraying a brand new bike frame silver, that my friend is just madness

I much prefer the black frames the only reason i dont have one is i couldnt afford to buy new.

I tell you what heres a thought you buy a new sv and i'll swap you my silver k4 frame for your black brand new one. Thats fair

I have a silver K4 but like the post above wasn't reg'd til 2005. If you paint a black frame silver you'd better be keeping it for life you'll lose times more on your resale value as what it will cost you to have it done. (making it look 2 years older - no one will accept any explanation of why you wanted to do that!)
Buy new - at least you'll know it's history.

Thanks for your comments. I think the black frame only looks nice fully faired in yellow, but I've searched high and low and can't find one anywhere (I believe they did the K5 in Yellow, but not the K6???). I wanted to get a brand new bike for piece of mind, as i've had bad experiences of buying 2nd hand cars where the previous owner has messed around with things and made the vehicle dangerous. This will be my 1st bike so I want to make sure it won't fall apart on me! I'v seen a K4 fully faired in yellow which looks pretty tidy so i'll probably go for that, but take a mechanic with me to check it out fully before buying it.
