I used to do lots of silly things on bikes when I was young, but I don't think I'd have ever even considered trying this. Normally, when people get older, they get a bit of common sense, but that of course can be offset by beer. That's all I can think of.

It would have been pretty cool if he'd managed it. All out for glory!

I imagaine he was trying to use the track leading down from the road as a sort of landing ramp.
Would have been cool if he'd managed it.

Unfortunately, I don't know, but I think he would have done, and probably not damaged too badly - maybe the odd broken bone.
I'd love to have seen a longer version, with what lead up to it, and then the ambulance turning up... :-)
That's gotta hurt!!

all downhill..piece of cake !
His front wheel was too low and he bails just before impact. I reckon he'd be ok, prolly broke a wrist or a collarbone. Maybe that's why the sound cuts?
So we don't hear him going "Shhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii.....!!!!"

He was so close to making it too... I've ridden worse descents than that on a hardtail, so if he'd got it to the landing zone he'd have been able to ride it out.
Still nuts.
wince..... that was an insane deathwish jump!
