Hi

When I change down a gear and blip the throttle, occassionally the engine dies but will restart when i let the clutch out. One time it didn't restart resulting in the rear locking up and me having to thumb the starter.

I've managed to replicate this a few times with the bike stationary in neutral.

Basically if I blip the throttle as the revs are falling from a previous blip, very occassionaly it will hesitate and a few times it flat out dies.

I've only experienced this before on a previous bike when I switched to race exhausts.

What could be the cause on a brand new totally stock bike with only 400 miles on it.

I'd like an idea before it goes in for its 1st service next week so I don't have to accept the dealers standard line of "they all do that sir, once it loosens up it'll be fine" etc...

Thanks

PS. Should of added that the idle speed is about 1400rpm which seems fair enough. Bike is an SV1000 SK6.

(I like to be pro-active as my experience of dealers has been poor).

Idle speed too low?
I'd let the dealer sort it out. That's what they are for when you buy a brand new bike.Tell them it's potentially dangerous to have the engine cut out on downshifts,so they can't fob you off.
