the top 3 pic's look better than the bottom one  nice one mate!
Ive never seen a heat shield like that - looks like its a tube off a tumble dryer! Nice looking bike though mate and you've obviously put the effort into it.
Looks really good - the black wheels suit it! 8)
Did you happen to buy it from the ebay seller rrelisyss ?
Thats where mine came from in similar condition

i'm not sure what his user name was tbh mate. I've just had a look on my ebay but with all the bits i've been buying on ebay i cant see which one was the bike lol.
It was from manchester tho if thats where yours was from?
The bloke selling it buys and sells damage reapaiables on ebay as his business. When i collected it he was a pretty big guy and drove a subaru impreza....sound the same?
That sounds the fella. It was in Astley, Manchester if that rings a bell and i think the name was DB Motorcycles.
Lol. If that damaged pic is at his house i recognised the alleyway where he photos all his bikes.
He was a good bloke to deal with.
I will have to post some pics up of mine as you mention a full fairing. I got my full race fairing from Carbontech.

Looks like exhaust heat wrap, its ment to increase proformance of the bike and also keep things nearby cool.

cool bike looks very similar to what i want to achieve only in a different colour scheme. Got pleanty questions for you now tho ha ha
Whats the score with that fairing then, its from carbontech i've gathered Is it a direct replacement and easy to fit? sv based or gsxr? how much did it cost if you dont mind me asking? are you happy with it?
i was looking at the ones jhs sells but it seems quite pricey from there.
i've seen them osf rearsets on the american ebay i like them and wouldnt mind a set of them too, did you have to pay an import tax on them? where they ok to deal with?
gixxer front end looks brilliant i defo want to do that when i get some cash so expect questions about that too lol
sorry mate lots of questions i know pm me if you dont want it being on here.

No problem with any questions mate. Ask as many as you need.
The fairing from Carbontek was £200 + £20 post. It appears to be the same as or a copy of the JHS ones but i may be wrong.
Its made to fit the SV's so it fits the bike well (The GSXR ones tend to be a bit wide on the frame). It goes onto the stock front fairing brackets and uses the standard SV screen. I had to use a little bracket on one side for the bottom part of the fairing.
They are typical race plastics though, being a bit rough around the edges, needing some fitting, holes drilling and then a good sanding. I am happy with mine but i knew what they would be like, being race plastics.
The OSF rearsets i think are really good. I did have a problem with them though. I felt there was a little too much side to side movement on the gear and brake levers. There are two thin shims (.005") on each lever to take out this movement. With some measuring i found that i needed an extra two shims on each side. The seller said he would send some extra, but never did. In the end i had to carefully file a little off at a time untill they had no play. We only talking .010" off but i wanted them perfect.
It might have just been my rearsets, or i am too fussy, but if you where to order some i would ask for a few extra shims to save any hassle.
Delivery took about 3 weeks and i paid just over £9 on the tax.

that bike looks smart bez. :D
the frame needs to be sprayed black.
Ian, did you get the wheels powdercoated?
Is there somewhere near us that does them or did you send them away?

No they were painted by me in my garage using a proper spray gun and cellulose paint with pleanty of laquer on top.
The finish on them is ok and seems to be pretty hard wearing.
Just got myself a gsxr front end now so i've got to paint the wheel for that too.
I've enquired about powdercoating with cuper motorbikes before and they have a number of a local place that can do it. I think the place was in Kirkcaldy but the bloke that runs it lives in cupar.
Try speaking to cupar they will help you.
Bez - didn't you used to do silly dances in the early nineties?
...
The clip on looks very long with a long lever too?? Is that race spec or standard??
(Edit: No switch gear!! ) D'oh!!

Yea i like both bikes!!
Ianofbhills - I think the tape around the wheels goes brilliantly with the colour of your bike? Idea taken from Rossi's M1 maybe????
Bez - what a bike - looks superb since you've got your hands on it!
I love the race plastics - are you just leaving them matt black or are you spraying them?
Nice to see some good effort being put into repairing damaged bikes and making them look the bizo! Nice one lads keep up the good work
