and this

It all seems a bit senseless to me to be honest...
Is it because the Scottish are unable to say
"Purple Burglar Alarm"

What's a Purple Burglar Alarm ?
Why we don't know but its not common.
actual attacks are rare but verbal abuse is rife. And before i get pelted by SV ecosse lot it is a minority that spoil it.
I've lived here 28 years and still get flak for the accent.
I liken it to the English and French but the Scots(minority) get even more riled because most of the English don't get hung about the Scots(minority) hating them
Please feel free to throw abuse at the comment as Its only my opinion from living in Scotland.
Most of the Scots are great and I love the place but 'its' there

omg its only a game. but thugs like this just use football as an excuse. saying that being scottish in england is not a piece of cake either. i remember going out in plymouth when i was in the wren (in the days when you wore uniform outside) and was spat on. thought it was coz i was a wren but then it happened the next week whilst they called me a jock tart. yes i am i proudly announced and then spent next half an hour cowering in woolworths while the military police were called to escort me back to base.
stupid people everywhere

a lad over on "bikechatforum" got his arm cut with a knife in a nightclub for singining
"eng-er-land"
in scotland obviously......i cant find a link....
Read in the paper today Scotlands First Minister Jack McConnells comment:
"I think here in Scotland we can have a laugh about football, we can enjoy the game - we can all chill out about this".
Erm yeah right, thats clearly the case in the above links. And is he remotely suggesting we've got it fundamentally wrong about Rangers and Celtic and theres a lovey dovey feeling with this chilled out attitude at the derby matches?
But given he is a politician Im kind of not surprised by the blinkered attitude and ignoring all the negative stuff.
...
Itis a small minority, but probably larger than we'd care to admit.

And I had my nose broken for wearing a kilt at a black tie function in England some years ago. The point is that the mindless minority will find 'something' as an excuse for their behaviour, be that race, religion, football team, etc, etc.

I think you'll find the quote came before the incidents were reported in the media. At least that's the way it's been reported here.
Whilst I'm no fan of the First Minister he has taken a high profile stand against sectarianism over the years and in particular the sort evidenced by Celtic and Rangers.

Scum are scum regardless of how they try to justify their actions

Fair enough.
And his comments previously made as to why he wouldnt be supporting England because our fans are "rioting" in comparison to the "peace loving" Scots? Bearing in mind the sectarian problem still exists. :P

Just proves that they are everywhere. :(

Seems a consistent argument to me. Supporters of the national team, the so called Tartan Army, have pretty much consistently been guilty of nothing worse than poor dress sense, out of tune singing and over optimism. Over the past couple of decades the Tartan Army have won a number of awards for the good behaviour and conduct of their fans.
Sectarianism doesn't as a rule manifest itself in the form of football riots and hasn't done since the 70s / 80s. There is a 'casual' scene, but this is neither prolific nor sectarian. Sectarian events tend to be isolated incidents of thuggery.
Anyway, I don't work for the Scottish Executive nor the First Minister. Best mail him at Jack.Mcconnell.msp@scottish.parliament.uk if you want to take issue with him.

Seems like just mindless thugerry doesn't it neanderthal even. I fackin hate bigots. Just seems... you know... f*cking pointless... plenty more to worry about in this life.
wasn't having a go at the Scots... I even have a couple in my highly cosmipolitan group of friends
Ones from Glasgow and he just cannot say Purple Burglar Alarm... come out as Purpleburgurgggurllllerraaarrrrmmmmmmm...
It's just another way that someone can inflict mindless violence on someone else and then try to justify their actions.
I bet if you asked the people that done this to name 5 of their nations team they probably couldn't.
It has nothing to do with football or being english/scottish and more to do with the fact that they know if caught they'll probably end up with nothing but a slap on the wrist and a measly fine. Where's the deterrent?

i remember going out in plymouth
Well you were asking for it then - unless you are from Plymouth you should never go drinking there, ever
The Tartan Army does have a good reputation outside England but not so great here. I'm not sure we ever got our goal posts back

First time I went to Birmingham & asked for a newspaper, I thought the vendor was taking the pi$$ calling it a noospaper. Then I realised & tried not to smirk at him. Bless.

Years back, when Brazil beat Scotland at something... Tiddlywinks I think... a mate of mine got beaten up for wearing a Sepultura t-shirt that looked like a Brazil strip  The guy was from Tain.
Still, are we really surprised to find out that some people are d***heads?
