set off to go to work this morning, every junction the bike kept stalling and the gears were very hard to engage down over. nearly dropped it on a few occasions, could have been an expensive commute,

also when i pull the clutch all the way in the bike still drives forwards. rang the place i bought it and they came and picked it up asap but aint heard anything since. no sign of any leaking oil from clutch what i could see either.

Anyone else had similar problems? its 11month old and still under warranty

Think some issue with clutch adjustment is the most likley call meaning it should be an easy fix.

If the clutch isn't fully engaging / disengaging then gear selection becomes tricky and the bike pushing forwards is a fairly common symptonm of this.

sounds to me like the clutch cable might be frayed inside or broken in some way, maybe one end is coming off. ?

As you say the bike is nearly new, it might be that the clutch is bedded in now and you need to adjust it as the cable might have stretched a little.

I dropped my SV last year after I had adjusted the clutch cable, after clutch adjustment be very very careful at slow speeds.

Muddy, The SV1000's have a Hydraulic clutch IIRC, so may be low on fluid, leaking etc for same effect.

The fluid has most likely leaked out.

This was a known fault of early SV1000s - what year is yours - a modified cylinder and seal was produced. Very often the leak was so slight that none would be noticed, in that circumstance the first thing you'd know is that the clutch didn't lift fully.

I'd be surprised if there were any of the original parts still around, but you never know.

spoke to the mechanic today that has been working on it. he said they had checked the clutch itself and it was ok, looked elsewhere and found a small weep on the slave cylinder seal so they have ordered new ones. hopefully i should have it back soon

sid - my bike is a 2005, sounds like you said

cheers
