View Full Version : Kawasaki Z750S
Well, I had a test ride booked on one of these today, purely only because I was interested to see what they are like. I know not everyone will like the looks of the faired version, but trust me, in the flesh its a great looking bike, and makes the standard Z750 look like its missing something, even more so from the riding position. After about 50 miles of fast A roads, B roads and a bit of everything really, I came to one conclusion, it was fantastic! Riding position is very similar to the SV, I prefer the S version as it has normal analogue speedo and rev counter, all the controls are light and easy to use and for a 4 cylinder bike it felt just as light and nimble as the SV. Power wise, I would say it has the grunt of the SV up to about 7000 rpm and then has a whole heap more until the 11,500 rpm red line. Gearbox was smooth and handling wise it felt very very similar to the SV, which gave me loads of confidence very quickly and then there were the brakes - they work superbly (I hadnt realised the SVs brakes were that "average" until now!) Brought it back with a big smile on my face and......
......I pick up a brand new black one next Friday!  They offered me £1600 trade in for my 13,000 mile naked K1 so if anyone wants it, make me an offer over that and its yours! ;)

kawasaki do make great engines, if you get on with the looks then id say its a great package, good luck and well done that man!
if you get on with the looks
Its funny because in pictures I am still unsure, but it looked so good standing next to it! Strange! But it was the riding experience what sold it and thats really what its all about... just got to find a way to tell the missus now - something tells me I could be a eunuch by the end of the evening...

Skip...Cracking choice of bike mate.
Sounds nice :D (http://www.kawasaki.co.uk/product.asp?Id=3400EE39997&Sub=81&DId=34003FD6DDF)

Cheers :D
It fits the bill perfectly as a replacement for the naked SV I own currently as it has a half fairing AND normal bars and not clip-ons. A nice set of gold Renthals and I will be as happy as a pig in the proverbial! 8)
Still havent told Mrs Skip - I dont think its going to go well... #-o

Nice 'un.
What are you paying and where did you get it?...if you don't mind me askin'?
BTW...the Z750 makes more torque and BHP at all revs over the SV

It is a sleeved down version of the Z100 engine which is a bored version of the ZX9 engine. Enough torque to make your eyes bleed :D I had one as a loan bike for two days while my ZX6 was being serviced - it was right mad  It also went back with no chicken strips  8)
I've heard that the seat is a bit iffy, casing male riders to mash their 'nads on the tank. :smt010
I like 'em though, and it looks great in black

I saw one in France last year with an aftermarket seat and a decent set of cans, looked the dogs (but it was a naked...)

Twin seats on the naked - much more 'nad-friendly

Seastar Superbikes (http://www.seastarsuperbikes.co.uk/z750s2006.htm) and it was as advertised £4495 - which for a brand new one is not bad at all, plus what made it far too tempting was the 0% finance... Oh and it was only £65 more a year to insure than the SV! 8)
Cant wait!

You know, looking at it again, it's not unlike the new Honda CBF1000 is it ??

If the Zed's brakes are so much better than your SV, then your SV has a problem - they're the same brakes.

PMSL! Well, something must be up then because they were much better! Hey ho!
Have slept on it now and am wondering if I have made the right decision, I am sure that will all be forgotten come Friday :D

Yeah it is...same horsepower but much cheaper.
100bhp for £4500 is a good deal in my book.

Oh and I told Mrs Skip - couple of hours of cold shoulder and we are back in business, I knew I loved her for a reason! :smt058
Don't be deceived by a couple of housrs. You will be reminded of your self-indulgence and profligacy at every suitable ocasion

Looked at the Z750S meself but it was when it first came out so Kwak were asking top money. The styling didn't grab me either.
Certainly a top buy...is it better than a SVS K6?....

I was expecting that, but hey ho!
In answer you to Basket, it suits me better as the riding position is more upright, which I prefer... each to their own though :D

The main advantage of the Z over the SV is that it is quicker.
This means you have to ride it much faster and harder to justify your purchase.

In the budget 600 class? The SV is almost as quick as a Fazer or Hornet. Ignoring top speed.
The Gap between the Z and the SV is quite wide however.

to 60 the sv and hold its own with almost any bike depends whos best on the clutch, i was referring to top end and higher speed riding.

I like 'em... I prefer the Hornet, but that's just me being a throwback most likely. Build quality does seem to be rotten, almost Bandit 6 rotten if the ones I've paid any attention to have been typical, but you can get past that.

Another reason I didn't but the Z was the build quality of me old GPz.
Kwak has to work hard to get my vote.
