Just failed to tax my bike on line as whilst I have a new electronic MOT cert. The on line tax system failed to find my insurance. Now since I have had the policy in place for the past 7 months I worry that it is not on the insurance database.
So off to post office to use the old method.
should I be worried every time I go near an ANPR that I am going to get my collar felt. Or is it simply yet another half cocked goverment computer system that fails to work

Why worry? You're legal, are you not?
If getting a producer is such a big issue, then carry your docs with you.
It's a pain, but not something I'd be worried over. Getting pulled over at Luton airport with no helmet, no plate and no tax on display, on the other hand.

Yeah all the paperwork is legal. But the last thing I want is to ring an alarm bell and have the coppers look too closely at the bike. Whilst the plate is full size, the can is a little "Fruity". And then there is the extra temptation of a tinted visor etc.

Fair enough, but I reckon any copper who will actually quibble over stuff like that is probably going to pull you regardless.

Just found out why my insurance would not show up. Bike Reg V381.... reg on insurance cert is V281...
Whoops. now to get in contact with ebike and get it changed. but everything is online with them, nothing like a simple telephone call

They do take phone calls and their email service is pretty fast.

That would be yes.
I've tried and failed to tax my various vehicles online six times, I apparently don't have any insurance on anything that the DVLA can ascertain, fortunately I have bits of paper that tell a different story.
Most if not all ANPR cameras are front facing so you will be fine there.
Anyhow by the time the lax of tax was processed by the dvla you would have got the tax sorted.
Also unless you get stopped by a traffic unit it would be words of advice for the tax and they wouldn't know a naughty can from a good can!!!

My OH got stopped in his van which didnt show up on the database because it hadnt been put on there and they grabbed the keys off him and were gonna nab the van :? so he phoned me at home for the Brokers number who confirmed to them by phone that he was indeed insured and then they gave him back the keys and let him go.
Lucky I was at home at the time to give him the phone number otherwise they were gonna take the van away

Unmarked cars with ANPR which sit at the side of the road sometimes have the camera front & back.
Have seen a couple like this in my neck of the woods.

Only the guilty have anything to fear. At least that's what the government keeps telling us :?

If I hadnt been at home to give him the number of his broker (which lets face it you dont tend to carry around in your pocket!!) they were gonna take his van away (fully insured, taxed and MOTd maintained etc) and leave him at the side of the road

That would be me then, as I haven't got any insurance on anything.
Leastways that's what the DVLA seems to think, it isn't true by the way.
ANPR will catch you front or back if its in a Traffic car. If its not listed on the system as having insurance, likelyhood is that you will get pulled and then a producer issued. No big deal although some cops might decide to have a wander around the bike for defects
