Been searching old posts and found what I was after:
36/42
Though at the end of the discussion Northy posted this:
Hmm, I just read on SVRider that the max they're rated for is 42psi... Not neccesarily of any relevance, just caught my eye. If you're putting 42 in them cold will that overload them when hot, or do those figures take that into account?
Which seems sort of reasonable, though never got answered. Just curious as whether anyone had any thoughts?
Thanks
Luke
When i had the recomended pressures in my current tyres, they felf awful.
I would say that those would be a maximum pressure, and to be honest, play around with them until you find the right setting for you. You and only you will know how they feel and what youa re happy with.
For the record, i run 34f40r on my contis, and run the same on the girlfriends bike who runs Z6's...which i will form tomorrow as well :D
Recommended pressure for Z6s on my SV1000 is definitely 36/42 - I checked when I had my new rear fitted last week.

Z6's...which i will from tomorrow as well :D
Ah, going pillion and being her bitch eh?

I was running 33 front and 36 rear on my Z6s..... Seemed good to me :D

I phoned Metzeler as their fitment guide thingy on the website was down.
The official pressures are 33/36.

Yep, that's what Metzler say. They also say to replace fronts at the same time as rears, and to never ever plug a puncture... ;) I tried the Roadtecs at 33/36, didn't like it, I run them at 36/40 now and they're much happier- though I've been tempted to drop them back to 33/36 just so I can get rid of my chuicken strips ;)

Well I'll do anything to reduce chicken strips! Maybe I'll run them at 20psi front and back!

Seriously though, why do you qestion the recommended pressures? I can understand being cynical about replacing as a pair etc. as they are recommendations that result in them generating more revenue. Surely the tyre pressures are that pressure for a reason?
When I raced my LC I used to vary pressures to find something that felt right but on the road I've always run with recommended ones. Even, if only from an insurance point of view.

The bike manufacturer and the tyre manufacturer are at odds about pressures, that is why this argument keeps reoccurring.
Suzuki say 33 / 36 on the 650 and 36/36 on the 1000 while nearly every other tyre manufacturer have a different figure. These are solo riding figures.
I believe when Pirelli, and Metzeler are telling you that 42psi is the correct pressure, that is the maximum for pillion and luggage

Becuase higher feels better, quite simply... I'm not sure why, Rictus01 puts it down to sidewall flex which makes sense- but in the same corner at the same speed, higher is more stable with the Roadtecs. I dropped down to 36 when I was running the rear on a trackday (with a Sportec at the front) and I ended up borrowing a pump and putting it back up, the rear end just didn't feel stable or planted in corners. The Sportec, on the other hand, was better at 30 than 33.

Pirelli Diablo Stradas recommended at 34 front, 36 rear, according to the book (whatever the tyre guide book they have on the counter at tyre fitters are) when I had them fitted. That's up from 33/36 when I had a pair fitted last year.

The latest brochure on the Metzler website
http://www.us.metzelermoto.com/media/metzeler_2006.pdf
recommends the following Min/Max pressures for SV650, SV650S 1999-2006:
front 32/42 PSI, rear 36/42 PSI.
Set mine to 32 front 36 rear.
