The following has been cut and pasted from our 3%ers website. The folks who passed it on are reliable and not prone to scaremongering, however I know knothing of the original source.

The following is from another Club website, but have reason to believe it's accurate.

I have it on very good authority, that a Police and Local Council operation is taking place. Between 12noon and 4pm, on Saturday 1st July.
The plan is to stop EVERY bike coming in to Weston. Some will be given roadside checks, frame/engine numbers, numberplates, document checks etc. Those that haven't got a correctly stamped Exhaust, or fail on one of the other points will be sent around to the Police station, where an area is being set up to measure the exhaust noise and more stringent checks can take place.
Some bikes failing some of the checks will be impounded.
The initial stop and check points are located around the town centre, mainly on routes leading to the two Bike Parks in the town. Carlton Street Car Park (Scallys Pub) and the Seafront (Tourist Information Center).
Please pass this on. This is not a joke.
They are using the local council's (North Somerset) enviromental health officers, to do the noise testing as well. On overtime naturally. There's our council tax in operation, right there.
How they can enforce the noise regs, is anyone's guess. As MOT stations are not required, nor able, to test noise emmissions.
There's a good idea who is behind all this, a local council official has a grievance with a few people.
Should this become a regular thing, a plan is being proposed to 'flood' the town with bikes and totally overwhelm the checkpoints. To the stage, all traffic come to a halt as bikes insist on being checked.
Of course this will require mass participation and take some organising. We are confident we can pull it off though.
This first motorcycle targeted action is based on avoidence, on our part.
More information, as I get it.
I'm hoping I will get the results, of their checks on Saturday, as well.
Just a follow-up note.
I have had it confirmed by another source, that a building had been especially rented.
This building is going to be used for the checking and storage of impounded bikes.
Another thing they will be checking on is MOT stations. Using the bikes they stop.
If they find 'Not For Road Use' parts on a bike, forensics may be used to determine if this part was fitted at the time of the MOT. With the new computerised MOT, they know exactly when it was done.
So, your illegal number plate/exhaust that "Wasn't on there when it was MOT'd Officer" will be examined to see if it was.
Every bike going to Squires Cafe where we have our Northern meet is stopped 1/2 per year. A pink spot is put on headlight so if stopped on way out they know they have already been stopped. Usual thing, small no plates, tax and MOT, loud cans. I've witnessed this, it does happen.
