Once more the government will try to introduce a scheme that will hit all bikers in the pockets. This time those total morons in charge will try to tax us more as we end up costing more to work on after an accident. How the hell they justify this is just beyond belief. I think the current government will not stop until biking is banned or just no fun at all. And then they go on to say "We want to make bikers more aware and to think before they act". In other words think before even wasting your money on thew new extended CBT which will be way too hard for most newbies, think before trying to pass the horrendous larger cc tests and think before they start charging bikers more as bikes are more hazardous. For Christ's sake what other idea's can they come up with purely to line their pockets? This is why we pay for NHS already so it should be covered. What about charging smokers or obese or old people as they are more likely to visit the doctors or hospital. It's just as ridiculous. We may as well all emigrate and let all the immigrants come over and drive around in uninsured vehicles with no licences, no tax or insurance and crash into everyone and not be punished or expected to foot the bill as is currently the trend.

Grrrr!

What on Earth gave that impression. It just riles me that they are trying to assume that ALL bikers crash and are the one's at fault. Most of my friends who crashed and my two crashes were due to muppet cage/lorry drivers.

Damn those ^&^&$^%^^%^(*($£!!

I don't crash very often, but I have been known to fall off now and then.

Hehehe.

Well in that case you can pay mine. :D

Yes it was MCN and I know it's like the SUN but still.........somebody somewhere still thought of that idea. Let's hope it gets treated with the contempt it deserves.

The article mentions that the 'tax' was proposed to all road vehicle not just motorbikes (although that would be a quite as sensational headline) and it is apparently very much like the proposed fat tax from a while back. I think it is stupid and I can't see how it would work, fact is motorists already pay shed loads of tax which in tern goes to the NHS.

The thing I find annoying is my friend has had more hospital treatment from injuries gained playing rugby than I have from bike accidents, will he be taxed for playing contact sports?

Yeah i'm ok and bike is too, just a bit sore, landed in a hedge after hitting a pothole while trying to avoid a car on a country lane that than wide

well about 5-6 potholes covering the edge of the corner, no chance of saving it

Pleased to hear that you're OK.

Now I understand your request for another front wheel. Bummer.

Wheel is fine, I wanted a spare anyway for powdercoating so bike doesn't have to be offroad.. No damage other than some new scratches so not too bad, put down to experience... Didn't post about it as it doesn't compare to recent offs :?

So no Crash tax please

I'm guessing the Comic gets general info and applies it only to bikes to sensationalise it.
As far as I know most accidents happen in the home - up goes the council tax
Horse rider suffer the most head injuries - so register and tax horses
Ball players especially rugger and soccer players fill A&E up on a Saturday and Sunday - Tax all sports amenities
Cyclists seem to do a fair bit of damage - tax cycles
Climbers and walkers get lost and injured on mountains etc - tax walking boots and climbing gear RAF rescue cost lots.
Any more before we start on motorists and motorcyclists?

Interesting, does that mean if we crash due to their poorly maintained roads (see Iansv above) they pay us :? :? :?

Could be usefull after a less than successfull trackday
