Hi

Im thinking of replacing my battery on my Pointy SV650s soon. Do i replace it with the original Yuasa brand or do i go for a generic model like Varta etc. I realise the main difference is price but does anyone know whether or not there is a percievable/documented difference in quality/realibilty?

Some fairly experienced mechanical wizards here have suggessted that in the long term yuasa are cheaper because they last so much longer than cheaper alternatives. I don't have that experience, so I can only re-iterate waht they've said. :)

I went a wee bit further and used the newer, high CCA Yuasa... And it's ace. Costs about a tenner more, but for really cold starts (ice casing the engine, or one time when I had to dig it out of a snowdrift) it's just fantastic.

that'll be a YTZ10S or a YTZ12S like

I know the 10 will fit a curvy, not sure about the 12, better if it will. Check out actual dimensions on the Yuasa site

The 12 does, that's what I fitted- though I don't have the fusebox retainer fitted, it might be too tall with it in. (removing it has no ill effects, it just makes it easier to access the battery, for what it's worth).

(by the way, cheers for putting me onto them in the first place Embee, it's been a great buy)
