Just wandering what peeps have, i have noticed many peeps that dont have car licences and wander why. Most peeps seem to get the car licence first then bike.

ps. I changed the poll to better reflect what i want to know.

I would've liked to be able to click option c, but I've not had the money to go for my pilot's license...

Edit: so it's option b for me.

That must of been impressive!

Just been desperately trying to talk 1 of the guys in the office out of buying an '02 125cc scooter, my own fault for leaving the last copy of bike trader open on my desk I suppose. He's looking at buying a bike, and was opting for a moped thinking he can ride it on his car licence. Quick trot over to the DVLA website says different these days. Lucky escape!

Did car a few years back, CBT a few months ago (50mile commute was 'fun' on an '86 CG125-BR), and only recently the DAS. SV being delivered tomorrow :)

Heh, I've always been told the same thing. Should of seen the look on my parents faces when I showed them a picture of the SV after I'd bought it. My dads words were 'Well, if you have to'.

Rode 250's on L plates for years then they changed the law, got married banned from bikes and took the car test as kids came along. 15 years later convinced the wife that I needed a bike because of the congestion charge (not bad as I get free rail travel) now have had the bike liecence for 4 years and am much happier riding to work than being stuck on a train (and as I work for them thats bad press0

Passed car test in 1987  and bike in 2000. Why I didn't do my bike test earlier I'll never know.
But I was lucky to miss the theory test on both! Sometimes it pays to be old.

I couldn't afford a decent car and lessons, but I could afford a decent 125 and CBT... Then, once I'd done that I got the bug and put off getting a car so I could buy the SV.

Speaking of that, from research on the t'internet, courses round my neck of the woods are far too pricey! £190 for a CBT :O I paid £420 not long ago for my 2day DAS :(

2003: Bike licence (via DAS)

Car licence at 18
Bike licence at 21

Had a housemate at uni who had a CB250 and I decided to get a bike licence.

My family thought bikes are too dangerous and after several discussions told me I wasn't allowed, so I went ahead anyway and did my test(DAS).

Then I got bought a new Polo straight after my test, if I sold my 125 and never got on a bike again.

Got bored of the car after 4 months and started saving for a SV. 2 years later, got a new SV

My mum has forgiven me being a dirty little lying spoilt cheat.

Bike first in '95, car next in '05. Only did my car test for work (driving vans full of film equipment around) In fact, since passing my test, all I've driven has been my SV and huge transits (high top, long wheelbase) full of expensive equipment. I think a car would feel weird now...

Took bike and car tests in 1980, passed bike, failed car - didn't retake car, no interest. Had to take car again in 1984 because license required by work.

Never been interested in cars, just consider them a tool for lugging things around.
Helen can't understand, she has 2 Porsche, (Boxter S and Cayenne S), despite putting me on the insurance I've never even wanted a drive.

I wasn't interested in bikes till I hit about 25 and had already been driving for 8 years. I think the on road experience I gained before riding the bike was invaluable.

As a matter of interest if you passed your test before a certain date you will have a micro car license which means you have a car license[very small car license]
I'm unsure of the dates or size of car but it does exist and I only found this amazing fact out a week ago as one of the chaps I work with who only has a bike license[riding for 40years] had a bad off and when he returned to work he was driving a 4 wheeled car about the same size as a Smart with reverse gear, just small

Perhaps the more knowledgeable amongst you could throw some light on this fact

In the olden Days if you passed a bike test you were allowed to drive a three wheeled car under 8 CWT (officially with no reverse gear) as per the reliant robin, Morgan and issetta and mershermitte bubble cars

Wot he said, but did my HGV at 19 as I was in the TA at the time.

I got back into biking when the Mrs said I couldn't spend a lot of money on a BMW M3... Mate at work said "You'll have more fun on a bike at 60, than you will in that at 120." Which made me think, so I booked my DAS and about 5 weeks later I passed. I bought the SV the week before

Car test first, then bike after having kids - couldn't really justify riding round on a bike while pregnant!!

Couldn't afford to buy car when I passed my test SO decided to borrow my dad's brand new car as he was away. Piled in about 6 of my mates into the car and took it for a spin round Barry Island on two wheels (that's when I decided I WANTED A BIKE!!!). Needless to say, my dad read the mileage BEFORE he went away so when he came back from his course :? :? :(   - who needs words ay?

Although I passed my bike test late, I Rode them for years when plod was less interested in licences and L plates.

It was my brother who convinced me to take my test, although he never had an interest in them till he was over 40, he did his test and he now owns 6 bikes, 1 quad bike and a scooter

He has got a 998, 999R an Aprilia Factory R, a 2006 R6 and just picked up a new MV Augusta.

I blame the parents :P
