I got myself a Scorpion end can and as anyone who has one, or has heard one without the baffles in it is LOUD!

Well i just wondered what the police can do to you if they deem it illegal at the side of the road??

Sorry! Searched for a post on this subject found non but there is a mssive Talk on this at the top... (feel free admins to delete this!)

Points for not having the baffle in? There are a lot of bikes out there with very loud cans without baffles and that includes myself. Personally it is part of the fun for me and to date have never been stopped for it. Maybe if you ride like a **** and you get pulled they will use it against you

First of all you need an upset copper on a bad day to do you for it, and the average copper won't notice the lack of baffles. BUT.... if you're stopped at a bike meet or a flagged down for a spot check this may be one of the things they're looking for.

If they do take it further, they'll issue you with a "rectification notice". I don't think you can get points unless you fail to rectify and have it checked (I may be wrong here....)

In 5 years on a bike I have been stopped a few times and they've never bothered about my race cans, and my SV, Falco and GSXR were all very loud.

i have a scorpion end can and it doesnt have a baffle, never has. i have been stopped 3 times by the police. every time i have been polite and mentioned i have the exhaust as a safety feature. the car drivers say they cant see bikes, they cant say they didnt hear me. the police have always been ok and laughed and just said but then we can also hear you and get our gun ready. (speed Im hoping) i said thats ok officer i dont speed. they just laughed a nd walked off. but if you are being a **** they will just add illegal exhaust to list of charges.

sounds great though

Yep you can get a 30 pounder for an illegal exhaust...esp one marked not for road use.

Bit mean - the SVs not that bad a bike

Must get myself a loud can........... my Hornet's a bit of a "stealth bike" at the moment

I've never been stopped on the bike for anything, ever. I've been wearing a very black visor for the past month or so on my commute to work. This takes me slowly past the car/bike park at Cardiff Central :plod: station just the shift is going out on patrol. Never had more than a cheery wave off 'em

I really don't think they can be bothered with something so trivial as a can or visor as long as you're not riding like a complete nobber.

Hi Fraser.

Could you use the deferred bike inspection request to give you a chance to get the baffle put back in? or are you bang to rights?

two years of scorpion with no baffle in never been pulled.

Partly because if Im out really late, Ill take it with me. Hence me glad I put it back in at 3am leaving Northampton as I pulled up next to a police car at a roundabout. :D

If you go to bike meets with illegal mods, expect attention whether youre riding like a tw@ or not. But any other time you pretty much have to draw attention to yourself through some daft riding to get pulled.

Never had any problems with my twin Remus cans - and they are LOUD as I am sure Fraser01 will agree

I just tend to try and keep the revs down a bit if I see the police, and try not to draw attention to myself

i hate illegal cans now having continually been subjected to a TL1000R razzing up and down the street where i live at all hours... as a biker i can somewhat appreciate the sound but i can't imagine how annoying it must be to non-bikers, where it just reinforces the image of us all being idiots.

my bike now has a standard exhaust and all future ones will continue to do so
