Muck Off (or Hein Gerickes equivalent) is good for general cleaning up. For the chain and sprockets I use parasene (parafin) from Homebase. Brush on and watch the goop fall off the chain. Let this dry for 10 minutes (evaporate off) and then lube with your favourite lube. I use Wurth Dry Wax. You may want to invest in a Scottoiler and then you won't have to go through all of this cleaning / maintenance rigmorole.

yes...parrafin mixed with a little washing up liquid makes a great de-greaser.just dont get the mixture on your tyres as this makes for some very slippery handling :?

Yeah you'd just get fed up with cleaning the oil from every other part of the left hand side of the bike

the muc off stuff really good. ive got a scottoiler and after a while the back wheel gets the oil from it and its really sticky, muc off does the trick, you just spray it on and leave it to soak for a while, then just rinse it off with no hard work involved

I wouldn't use washing up liquid on your bike. It is full of salt.

am i the only one who thinks muc off is highly overrated ?

its a basic shampoo, no more.
gunk engine cleaner is my degreaser of choice at the moment.

parafin for the hardcore stuff (like chain)
