View Full Version : Clutch problems....or easy fix???
Hi guys,
After not using my bike for a week I started this morning and all fine. When I put it in gear it stalled. (The sidestand was up and clutch in!!!) When I restarted it, it was still in gear, the bike pulled forward slightly. It was like the clutch was out slightly. Are these symptoms a poorly adjusted clutch or is it something more serious?
Thanks,
Andy

Either poor adjustment, or clutch drag which could be a few things. Make sure that you adjust the clutch accoring to a manual or similar, and not just at the bar end.
HTH
it is completely normal to feel some drag like that while the oil is still cold and heavy viscosity
if it still does it once all warmed up, check clutch adjustment

Check your oil level, and consider if oil needs a change.Mine starts to do that if I leave the oil in more than 4000 miles.
Sometimes happens to me if i shift into gear very soon after starting the bike. I mostly start the bike in gear with the front brake on when i start so i dont notice the problem much.
If the bike has been standing for a while then all the oil drips off the clutch plates drying them, as they are under presure from the springs it makes them all stick together even when the clutch is disengaged.
Thanks guys, it had been stood for a week and I havent noticed it when it is warmed up so looks like just one of those things.
