Help.
Whats everyone bringing as far as camping stuff goes?
its been years since i slept in the great outdoors and when i did it wasn't a case of getting everything on the bike either.
So far, apart from clothing, i have this very short list.
1 x sleeping bag
1 x tent
1 x torch.
i'm sure a ground mat thingy would be good too but they are so bulky that they are twice the size of my sleeping bag when thats compressed down.
I'm lucky as i may be able to put the tent i'm borrowing in some kindly souls car and dont have to carry that but what else am i missing from that list?
Try a lilo instead of foam mat?
Spidey, thats about it to be honest. A few carrier bags for putting (if you need to) wet shoes items in etc.
As for a roll mat. Not sure where you are based, but a trip to Decathlon in Surrey Quays is worth a visit. They do the self inflating roll mats for about £15. Smaller than a foam mat, and more comfortable to.

Thats not a bad price, the ones at the shop i bought my sleeping bag from were the same if not more than the bag.
Always take carrier bags with me on long trips, you just never know when you'll need one ;)

Is the one i got (http://www.decathlon.co.uk/EN/Product_arborescence/mountain/hiking/hiking-equipmen/outdoor-mats/product_5587334/index.html) Costs £15 in store, although £20 isnt bad, and i found this more comfortable than the more expensive ones.

only thing worth taking with you camping is a credit card to book into the nearest reasonable hotel.
Sorry I cannot get my head round the idea of sleeping under canvas on the deck. Yes I have done it 30 years ago and discovered that I prefer comfortable beds, hot showers, clean bathrooms, full english in the morning.

Anyway, I would need to be at least a mile away from you to get a quiet night. With your alleged snoring and zip fiddling.
Hmmm the nasty part of me thinks it would be funny to turn up at your camp site during the night and cable tie the tent zips closed.

Very important! I've just come back from Italy where the buggers tucked into me most nights without invitation and despite a liberal application of Jungle Formula.
I'm thinking that combining the use of a lighter with a can of the aforementioned highly flammable substance may be more effective.

Does the camp site we are stying at not have a kitchen thingy that we have access to?
I remember way back when, Big Ape was it, was looking into this reading about £x a night and we have access to kitchen .... or was that on another camp site?
And Jabba me old mate.... i was waiting to see who use that tired old carry on interpretation of this thread. Well done to you sir.

I saw this and thought "God, you'd have to be a sad city dweller to even consider one of these". (http://www.fieldandtrek.com/src/ukwm/product-GSI-Outdoors-Mini-Espresso-Maker-22098.htm)

I was camping in Devon with mates at the weekend. The essentials are:
Tent
Sleeping bag
PILLOW
Torch
Bottle opener (& beer to open)
Underwear (I forgot  )
Camping mat (I also forgot this, but didn't really need it)
Mug for tea/coffee/hot chocolate
Knife (& maybe fork)
Did I say pillow? This is essential, otherwise you'll end up rolling up a pile of t-shirts and using those, which ain't comfortable. I had a small square pillow, but you might be able to find an inflatable one).
