In my defence I have been on 24 hour callout from work for the past 7 days (can't really go out or do anything as getting called is almost guaranteed), hence having too much time to play silly video games.

When you get down below 5K you get quite a lot of explosions for no particular reason when drilling. Just try and drill through minerals (and then jettison them if need be to make room for more precious ones) or use dynamite or plastic.

Also make sure you have the best hull and radiator plus a good supply of repair nanobots just in case.

at around 5k, start zig zagging alot, rather than digging straight all the time.
Carry lots of dynamite for digging quickly and if you want to go to the end, load of repair kits, refuellers and plastic explosives.

I got the goldium edition last night, it's basically the same but there are more extras to be found.
