Hey folks I've got a problem with my SV which I've documented here
http://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=83285&highlight=

After reading the replies I think it is something to do with one of the earthing straps (ground wires). Can anyone tell me where abouts they are on a 99 SV650S ?

Assistance is greatly appreciated.

Rather than bouncing between forums it's probably best to outline exactly what has been checked already. Does this turn up on every ride or just some? Have you tightened up the battery terminals recently? Have you had the tank and plastics off to check for a wire that's worn through it's insulation by rubbing on the frame? Have you had a multimeter accross the battery and seen what the voltage is when the engine's runnign at low and high revs?

The more info, the better the answers!

As well as what has been said, check for chafing of your wiring loom.known trouble spots are where the rider's seat bolts screw in perilously close to a pinch point on the loom, and a little further back where the loom is cable tied to the subframe under the rear cowling.
BTW just buying a new battery will not diagnose a faulty alternator or reg rectifier. If the problem is in the battery or charging system you need to get an electrical tester on it.Then replace whatever bit comes up as faulty.
