You are correct, SVS is 44 rear, SV is 45.
I have a 46 and it works very nicely.

on k5 its 44 and ive gone up to 46 and my bike flys lol
on my bike with 44/45 the bike uses the full rev range before running out of puff in 6th, on a good day my bike even without fairing will just go into the red in 6th, which i think is fairly good.

And anticipating the next question the chain is a 525pitch and 108links :D
Well for a 03 pointy s anyway :!: :!:

You've got a 44 tooth front sprocket?

But you'll need a 110 link chain if you want to put on a 46 rear sprocket.

Hello all, to the guy's with an svs 03(pointy) onwards. what difference(acceleration and top end) are you seeing with a 46 tooth rear sprocket, Can somebody please explain to me about the chain differences(pitch,o-rings) that type of stuff. thanks Chris
Contrary to what some peeps might suggest, I've actually noticed a very slight increase in top end with a 46 tooth rear and it's also quicker to get there, and will redline in sixth, something it wouldn't do previously.
However if you're someone that does a lot of motorway miles you might find it a little vibey on a long run and keep wishing for a seventh gear. Fuel consumption will also very slightly increase — but IMO the extra oomph and fun factor is worth it.
.
Just as a note for ease of reference, the 46T rear sprocket is the same as the one used on the Bandit I believe. You can also get a 47T to fit, which I've bought and am hoping to fit over weekend.
I'd be interested to hear if anyone has gone the other way and raised the gearing on their pointy, and what the effect was.
I've heard that a couple of peeps have (possibly Randy O), and it will make it more relaxed if you want to cruise on the motorway but will certainly dampen the SV's acceleration, and will likely not make the slightest difference in top speed even, possibly, reducing it slightly as the gearing in sixth might well be higher than the SV's 70 BHP can overcome.
