Aftermarket GP style can (was trying to find pictures of the one I'm thinking of, but can't) on that would look absolutely spectacular.

Hey if you can get a picture of the can you're on about, post it on this thread for me or send me a pm with image attachment. I've had a few people tell me how to tart my bike up.

I love her the way she is at the moment - she's perfect, but I would be interested in looking at the can you're on about!

I've had my stabilisers put on the bike :? well, a set of crash mushrooms. Heard so many horror stories of people dropping their new bikes on their first day

I want one of these.....how much? Also, what's it like to ride in comparison to the SV? I'm getting on a bit and like me comforts, how does the riding position compare to the SV? Iron Maiden?

Got £3000 for my SVS in part-ex for the GSX which costs £6799. I'm VERY impulsive so, believe it or not I haven't test ridden the bike YET!!!!!! Mind you, did the same with the SV and got on fine with it.

It's 8 kg lighter than the SVS and a little shorter. You're leaning more over the tank and the handlebars are slightly lower than my 650S so it's gonna be harder on the wrists. The bike feels smaller and more comfy tho between my legs (can't think of any other way to put that sorry  ).

Take one for a test ride and see what you think?

Mmmm - I know where you're coming from, but i've only gotta look at a bike, sit on it and fall for it. I've now been BANNED for spending my spare time wandering round bike showrooms.

There goes the family holiday money again. Day trips at Theme Parks this year for us

Ooooh, I hate it when they do that - but it does give you a nice smug feeling when you smoothly ride out instead though.

You'll do fine. Nice machine.

I know what you mean about implusive buys though - that's how I ended up with my 'Blade. Tried to claim to the other half at the time that it 'just followed me home guv'!
Didn't work - but now I'm single and still have the 'Blade.

If I had a pound for everytime i heard that...................

Welcome to the ex-SV Gixxer club.

If you keep calling it a GSX people might think you have really gone mad and bough one of these.

The Gixxer looks lovely in black (or any colour really) - it takes a while to get used to using the extra 5k revs - you'll love it when you do!

What a gorgeous bike... I'm megga jealous!

I looked at one like that and was ready to sign on the dotted line, then phoned my insurance company for a quote. Due to the fact that 2 bikes stolen in 6 months and being my first year with full licence, despite being a "sensible" 31 years old... they qouted me £2,700.

that's me screwed then

OH MY GOD! That's a hefty insurance quote. I only got my license September last year but have just over three years no claims on my car. My friend suggested H&R which you can do online and their quote was around £400 cos I could include my no claims for the car. Give it a go, see what quote they give u. If you're not happy with it, phone them and see if they can better the online quote! Let me know how you get on if you do it.

That was H&R! with 3 years car no claims too!?

I think it's because I'd just registered a theft claim a week before... might phone them and see if they'll drop it on the basis of your quote though... that's ridiculously cheap

To be honest with you I think your right. If you make a claim your insurance premiums rocket. Sorry mate. But it's worth giving them a call OR trying some other company.

Do they check up then to make sure you're telling the whole truth?????? - Just for the record - I HAVEN'T LIED TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY - HONEST GUV :D

Same as, though never had a bike nicked or made any claims. My downfall is that I live in London. Yamaha's O% on new bikes has been really tempting until I get a few quotes for 2006 R6:

Around £3000 for a new R6, fully comp  or if I rent a a garage for about £35 a week, then I end up paying £2000 for the garage and the insurance goes down to £1000!

Only real way to do it without throwing thousands on insurance was to not cover it for theft and since I park it outside, I would have to be braindead to do that.

Sad thing is, I will always work in London so long as I live in the UK, so I don't see how the theft situation is ever going to get much better.

ps JUICY - I'm very jealous - Have fun!

Mmm I know where you're coming from. Like I said I passed in September after just 4 days on a bike - ever! A week after passing I had knee surgery to both knees so was out of action for a couple of months. Riding in the winter gave me good experience tho.

I did think seriously (did I?) about getting the Gixer, but I thought if I didn't go for it I will never improve my game - but that's what makes me me! If you really wanna do something - DO IT!

If you cannot get your heart racing every now and then when you're out on the bike then ya might as well drive a car.

Got a feeling my heart will be doing more than racing when I get my leg over my Gixer for the first time

Ah I know thought about keeping my SV cos I bought her from new in September last year, but only way I could afford the Gixer was to part-x the SV.

Trouble is garage space is at a premium as my Dad has 2 Harley's,a '31 Ford 'Hot-Rod',and then my SV in there too, HOPEFULLY [-o< that will get sold before the Gixxa arrives, otherwise one of them will have to stay at work!

They are SO different from one another, thats why I decided to keep the SV aswell.

If it's any consolation,I'll be strapping myself up with a loan for the Gixxa! But hey,you only live once!
