OOOOh - sounds good. As far as I am aware I will be free that weekend (as will O/H...) And a wee jaunt down the ayrshire coast would be nice. :D

I don't want to upset the Carnoustie lot! A run to meet up with them would be great... Ayrshire Coast was just a suggestion for A. N. Other run on A. N. Other day, or for this run, or for next year, any route is good with me.

Meeting up with the carnoustie lot was only an idea but have looked at a possible route without looking a mileage just yet that takes in

the millitary road at helensburgh, the wibbly wobbly at arrochar and the Dukes pass

so we should be able to please just about everyone.

If the mileage and scran stops work out fine i'll post route unless anyone has objections

It was really quite funny I was riding behind Jimmy  and suddenly he slowed to about 30 mph for no apparent reason I was going to overtake but thought maybe I cant see what he has seen so I slowed down too then I saw the Amulree hotel n started PML Jimmy must have **** himself when he recognised the road he was on

Suggestion...

I know this route pretty well but if someone could do an autoroute...

Kinross services -> Milnathort -> Glenfarg (Twisties) -> Baiglie Inn -> Bridge of Earn -> Perth and regroup.

This section passes by some neat stuff like butterstone and the loch of the lowes.
A9 Luncarty turn off -> Stanley ->Murthly -> Caputh. Turn right towards Miekleour -> Take a93 north to Blairgowrie -> A923 to Dunkeld regroup.

Head towards Birnam -> take the a822 -> join onto the a826 north towards Aberfeldy. Regroup Aberfeldy.

Aberfeldy -> take the b846 all the way to Tummel bridge via Foss. Regroup

At this point can go route 1

Head west towards Kinloch Rannoch then take the Calvine road north (b847) which swings all the way to Blair Atholl and go therough the pass of Killiekrankie into Pitlochry

or route 2

Take the b8019 all the way to pitlochry. Regroup

From Pitlochry take the a924 to bridge of cally (excellent pub bar lunch stop).

Bridge of Cally to Blairgowrie and head south towards cupar angus and head all the way into Perth.

from Perth either hike it onto the motorway or back via bridge of earn and the Glenfarg twisties.

Did this run yesterday.

Started 2.20 from kinross arrived back 7.30

Good bits: (out leg)
Glenfarg twisties - slight downhill but just awesome
Stanley-Murthly - smooth
Caputh-Dunkeld - super twisties
Birnam to aberfeldy (a class some gravel and rogh stuff)
Aberfeldy uphill stretch towards tummel bridge - nice smooth and twisty

Not so good bits: (out leg)
The downhill into Aberfeldy - steep descent and a bit gravelly, farmers mud in places
Aberfeldy downhill to tummel bridge - not so nice. some very steep 18% gradients and hairpins. Gravel

In leg:
Tummel bridge to pitlochry - very good up to the queens view. Loads of f***wits clipping corners thereafter.
Pitlochry to bridge of cally. smoth uphill over moors and some descents.
Bridge of cally to Blairgowrie - Braw!
fast forward to Glenfarg - same twisties but more uphill pleasure - yummy!

Seriously aching wrists at the end but a good long run.

Right we need details of who's going and where we are going?

Date 13 august.

Route - Ayrshire Coast, borders or up round the ww and duke pass etc.

Though been told that the dukes pass to aberfoyle is not so good as going from aberfoyle.

So votes please otherwise this will keep going until the day before and then we'll be up the creek.

Also vote that all the route should be witten down and left with someone so that when we turn up on the morning we can decide where the good weather is and get a route in that direction save a lot of time.- Yes it means duplication some times but we can get more rideouts in a year

:D Count me in, I'll bring up the rear again Q. doesn't matter route etc for me I'll go anywhere, I'm quite happy to print off routes etc if you send them to me, couple of mobile numbers on the day might be an idea as well in case we get split up.

Count me in!

I do have a preference (thus far) for inland roads but willing to coast it.

Borders gets my vote. I always head north so it'd be nice to see some more of the country.

Of course, I'll be at work :( so maybe that should count half a vote :)

Sorry Guys, I won't make this one. I've got my Arran/Kintyre run with work on the 11th/12th, so I'll be riding a full day on the Saturday, then Saturday night I've got a friends 30th birthday party which will almost definately mean I'll be over the drink drive limit well into Sunday 13th. Have a great run though and I'll look forward to hearing/reading about it.

It has to be autorouted but the route is as above

Meet @ Mcd's Hamilton retail park. 10 for 10.30 sharp kick off
Down to moffat via lanark and biggar
to Selkirk over A708
to peebles and then home which ever way that is.

There's a great B road at Bigger for those who wish a tight twisty fast deceptive and covered in coo crap journey. But it will be listed as an alternative!

Sorry guys - i've decided i'll be at the back sweeping - in case anyone gets lost. That means that despite having a map you still stop and get picked up. Yes it means i'll be last but I can go at my own speed and watch the scenery without you lot hareing past me!!!

I'm in. The Coyote serviced today so aiming to build up some miles.

When's the first stop? It's a realy crappy motorway journey for me down to Hamilton so I'll probably join at Lanark - come over via Whitburn then up the Forth rollercoaster.

What time would you guys expect to be in Lanark?

Here is the route folks........

Including Britain's most pleasurable road

A panel of racing drivers and motoring journalists has named the A708 from Moffat to Selkirk as the best place to experience the joy of driving free from the irritation of fellow motorists. The remote road takes in St. Mary's Loch and the rolling Scottish lowlands as it snakes 10 miles through Dumfries and Galloway.

:riding: :riding: :riding: :riding: :riding: :riding: CLICK HERE FOR RIDEOUT MAP as "WORD" doc. (http://www.independentphoto.co.uk/media/sv650/rideouts06/Hamilton%20Borders%20Bash.doc) :riding: :riding: :riding: :riding: :riding: :riding:

....checked by Quedos.

Meet at Hamilton McDonalds (at the retail park - ASDA etc, near the M74) at any time BEFORE 10.30 for a SHARP Departure. :smt079

There WILL be maps handed out at the start to those who can't (or forget to) print them.

We have proposed a Fast/Advanced group and a Slow/Novice group. At Biggar, we highlighted a difference of routes (around the same, short distance) that would be an ideal split. One is well surfaced with good visibility, reasonably straight and EMPTY. The other is twisty and littered with all sorts, but apparently rather good...... that'll be the "Advanced" route then!

Anyone with PMR radio equipment that can either transmit or use an earpiece, is encouraged to do so. If your radio has codes, use channel 7, code 37 (737). This kind of thing can be confirmed and tested before setting off. JIM@55 has kit that can transmit on the move, as do myself and JIMMYnumbers. If you don't have something similar..... we've done fine without before now.

See you all Sunday.........LEAVING HAMILTON 10.30 SHARP

Cheers for now,

Garry
