Pointy Rear Brake

Just given my rear caliper a clean and was wondering what the 2 metal plates (1 white, 1 black) clipped to the back of the pads do?
I'm thinking some kind of anti-squeal but in that case why aren't they needed on the front?
Anyhow, i still copper greased the backs of the pads and the back of the black plate that goes next to the caliper/piston. Hope this is right 'cos i don't know if i can @rsed taking it off again.
BTW, i've seen lots of threads on here from people struggling to remove the pins on their rear calipers. The pin on mine is threaded so you can remove it with an allen key. Maybe Suzuki do listen to their customers after all...

The white one is a heat shield, the idea is to stop the brake heat from making it's way into the hydraulics, and the steel one is the normal anti squeal shim.
As for the pin, the brake is constructed in an entirely different fashion.

Cheers Sid, but why doesn't the front need these? More air flow? Or am i barking up the wrong tree?

Good question, presumably the testing that the makers do has led them to want to keep the temps down a dab, although, very generally speaking, in reality just about any road brake won't suffer without them, as the brake isn't ever used hard enough, frequently enough, for it to be a problem. But if you've got them, there's no benefit in not fitting them.
