Anyone going? I'll be working (ahem) there for the weekend :D . Will most likely be found near the Medical Station to the rear of the Stealth Fighter hangar. Most likely I'll be sat watching the displays while smoking myself into oblivion.

Aaaah. Its a hard life!!!

Is it easy to get to? What's bike parking like?

Is there going to be an F117 there this year? I didn't see it on the web site when I looked last night.
Couple of years ago a B2 flew over which was amazing. Not as good as the SR71 I saw a few years back, but very impressive none the less.

Looks like it's going to be good weather as well. I'm just hoping they have plenty of fresh doughnut vans.

Head for Cirencester (junc 15 M4, then A417 / 419 to Gloucester) and you'll pick up the signs somewhere near Swindon. I don't know what the bike parking is like as I'll be in an ambulance but I would imagine it will be ok. As far as I'm aware you can get tickets on the gate but if anyone knows better then feel free to contradict me

I wish I was going :( .

Because of my dad's job, we used to get to sit next to the taxi lane and watch it all for free :D !!!

But unfortunately, not no more :( . I think the tickets are a bit steep this year, plus the line-up doesn't look as good as previous years.

I do miss the burnt jet fuel smell tho!!! hehe!!!

I used to live in Bibury and the B-52's used to fly over all the time. Oh happy days :D .

I was lucky did about 8 months work on RAF Mildenhall, the SR71's were amazing so too was the practice week b4 the annual airshow.

I went on Saturday - thought it a little disappointing compared to previous years - especially upset that the B-1B didn't put on a proper display. Static display was a little on the thin side too.

Mildenhall takes some beating - wonder if it'll ever re-appear...

On Sunday, the Mig29 did the best display by a long way. As you said, shame about the lack of B1 display, and my programme said the B52 would fly as well, but I didn't see it (and I can't help thinking it'd be difficult to miss...)

I went on saturday and really enjoyed the day except for a couple of nigglin things.. 1) the queue of traqffic getting in was attrocious!! I set off from heathrow at 08.15 and was on the b road about 2 miles from the gates and that took me 3 hours just to get to the gates!!(I was in the cage :( !!) and secondly...... where were all the loo's? I could only see the ones near the front gate? Dont know if there were more but I almost pi**ed mesel twice running to those!! - Let me guess, there were loads dotted about but I jus didnt notice them.

But other than that I had a really good day out with some good friends!! :D

The traffic getting in was ok on Sunday - took about 15 mins I guess, once I was on the B road (again, in cage). Biggest delay was the odd traffic lights which were being manually operated. Getting out was not too bad - queued down to the M4 (20 mins?) but it was generally moving ok.
There were a few sets of loos around, but the location didn't seem too well considered. With the amount people were drinking to stay hydrated, they could have been distributed about a bit more. Still, as long as the operative word is "nearly", no harm done eh? :-)

The only way to get to Fairford is to fly!

The last time I went I was operating a charter flight, the only hold up was waiting for the Red Arrows to land, 40 minutes at tickover burnt enough fuel to keep the bike running for years(if it ran on kerosene) :(

Well I had a cracking weekend! Got there on Friday at about 1430. Only had two transfers to Great Western at Swindon all day on Saturday. No transfers at all on Sunday so sat and watched the display. I don't think the display was as good as last year and, as someone has already said, the B1 display was a bit of a damp squib. Getting to sit in the cockpit more than made up for it though!!!! Oh yeah, I sat in the cockpit of the C17 Globemaster as well. Being in uniform does have its benefits after all.

Roll on next year. Hopefully the Vulcan Bomber will be flying - if they can get it airworthy in time!

Top weekend!

Got back yesterday at about midday, complete with major hangover. The hangar party on Sunday night is legendary. All sorts of drunken shenanigans going on
