View Full Version : Feeling quite smug
Went to the gym today and enjoyed telling my colleagues that I'd been. Omitted to say it was only the second time this year and didn't get beyond a quick stroll on the treadmill. :D
Ever since I got the bike, been really lazy. My body resisting any kind of exercise whatsoever.
Am I alone??
Ex.... exerc...exerci....... sorry just cant even bring myself to say the word!!! ;)
def not alone i get no exercise
Used to go every day - but now I'm slacking. Severe lack of motivation.
Um, 3-5 times a week & I've lost about half a stone....so I'm not looking good for summer.
Still, less weight means less petrol consumption, right?

I've not been in a very long time, but not going to the pub so often has had a similar effect. I've lost about a stone so far since just before my final exams.
On a good week I go to the gym 14 times - Every morning before work, every lunch break, three evenings and a Sunday afternoon.....
I really must get a life!
 Trampie - you are kidding, right??

Fraid to say I do exercise a lot now.
Originally weighed 17st 11lbs now 16st and 9lbs. :D
Have been running 3 times a week for 5 miles, weight lifting and cross trainer.
Then been shuttle running in between.
Target is 2 fold:
1. Lose weight and convert tyre into six pack
2. Fire Brigade physical coming up.

Asked my Doctor 3 years ago, "Should I join a gym"
Definately not unless you want to croak even earlier, a gentle stroll is all I am permitted (Normally between pubs).
I suppose now my blood pressure is now medicated down to nomal and I am a stone lighter that then that I should reconsider asking him at my next appointment.
Main problem is I cant use my left shoulder, so one handed wieghts and one handed swimming will look/feel a bit daft.

positive discrimination!
they'll let any old bloater into the fire service now then? if i'm in a fire i want to be rescued by some toned hunk, not billy bunter puffing up the stairs, using his inhaler before trying to beat the door down! :D :D
Hardly do any exercise now, bought some proper trainers a couple months ago instead of skate shoes to do some running/jogging but only went out once and thought I was gonna collapse after 15 minutes
I feel so unhealthy compared to my uni days when I used to play rugby, when I had to train and go to the gym.

I used to be a fitness instructor, I'm just part-time at it now as I work in a school as a Techie part time. Used to teach 30 classes a week to all genders - aeroskipping, cycling, high, low, pilates, bla bla bla. Had to give it up for a time as I had to have both knees operated on and my shoulder - all due to my fitness regime.
Enjoying my lazy school life and having the freedom to go out on my bike in the school hols. Finding that I'm going on my bike in the evenings and skipping those circuit classes. Did think about riding to circuits, but never seem to get near to the leisure centre.
:D :D :D
def not alone i get no exercise
Falc...take note!!
My gym membership ran out last year, october i think, and if i was totally honest, i miss it. I just cant stump up the membership fee at the mo. Put a stone back on as well :(

Well you could always keep your bike at a mate's house and JOG there to collect it. I'm sure in your leathers with this heat you'll soon lose that stone Viney

I dont think so. I can just about get up in the morning as it is. I was always an after work exerciser. Dropped 2 stone ina year, put one back on. Also most of my mates live a good 10-15 mile away, and i work closer than that.

WHEEZE WHEEZE
I used to go the gym at my old place of work. Was really handy as I used to go before Ileft for home. Takes the stress out of you, instead of taking it out on the drive home.
But now , this new job doesn't have a gym. Thought of joining one, but at£32 a month thought, sod that. Found a cheaper gym nearer home, used that for 6 months, but the typical thing happened, got fed up with having to get home, get changed, go to the gym, work out, get home showered changed then make something to eat! Wasn't sat down having diner till after 8PM most times.
SO, decided to go running! Got a nice reservoir near where I live, fairly flat track around it, so run that, and also have increased the runs to include some hills around the ressy too. Best thing I could have done. Heart rate is much better at rest, I feel better physically. ALSO, it lets my mind wander so I'm probably less stressed too. Entered into the sportrelief mile for this Saturday too!!
Try it, but take it slow. Run a minute, walk 2 minutes, run a minute walk two, do that for 10 times, on the first day. then have a rest, then again on the thirdday. after a week or so of doing that , increase the runing to 2 mins. then walk for 3. do it five times.
It's amazing how long that extra minute feels!!
Get soem decent trainers though. I use asics, cost me £24 from JJB. Well cheap, and feel great too. I used to run in just normal adidas X trainers before. so those were ok, but not as much support.
SORRY, prob bored the lot of u now!
I.
Interestingly, I lost weight when I started using the SV intensively. Think it made me a bit stronger too.
Currently endeavouring to cycle into work - was a tad knackered this morning!

another thing. My legs have got a LOT stronger, which is good for when I am on the bike.. I'm just learning at the moment, so find it helpful when I sudden;y realise that I have to put my feet down when I stop!! HEHE
:P
Exercise? I walk between various venues...bedroom...kitchen...toilet...living room...bedroom etc.
Anyway - Meatloaf started an exercise regime and went on a diet - he lost five stone!!
They call him Breadstick now!!

Monday = 45mins body combat class at lunch, then 90mins taekwondo in the evening
Tuesday = usually gym for 30-45 mins depending how long I have for lunch
Weds = swimming or badminto for 60mins
Thursday = 45mins kick aerobics at lunch, then 90mins taekwondo in the evening
Friday = 45mins body pump or body combat class depending how work is going.
Not that lazy afterall when I think about it

Blimey charlie! Amanda M!
Do you compete at all?
AND, not that you should ask a lady her weight, but, is all that exercise keeping you trim!?
How tall are u?
Amanda M

I don't do competitions. I'm 5'3" and not trim, hence all the exercise.

Is it working though?
:?
 Trampie - you are kidding, right??
Nope.... It sounds alot but when you consider my max time is 45 mins per session : Weights, fat burning and cv stuff, its quite reasonable.
Little and often.... Just how I like it
