View Full Version : rustling noise
any help would be appreciated - I bought a new sv last year and it has developed a funny noise which sounds alsmost like a piece of flapping foil. You can't really hear it at lower speeds but when i wind the bike up youcan hear it over the engine and it sounds like it is coming from just under the forks- was wondering if anybody else has come up against this - called the shop but they were at a loss too!

I think I know what you you mean - could it be the chain? Obviously the chain isn't under your forks but sound can be deceptive. I had my tyres changed recently and the guy who did it kindly slopped a load of old engine oil on to lube tha chain. Made a similar noise to the sound you described after that, though only under acceleration. Cleaned the chain and re-lubed using the Wurth Dry stuff, and the noise has gone away (or at least I don't notice it anymore!)
EDIT: Forgot to add - also adjusted my chain when I cleaned it.

I get this on mine, i'm assuming its induction noise or noise from the injectors as it only occurs on the throttle. Wear earplugs and it goes away (along with lots of other strange noises).
In the words of Randy-O: bikes make noise.
