The purchase of my house is going through - and hefty sums they want for stamp duty too. Anyone got a spare grand for me ....?

:D Just kidding. Can anyone recommend any good building insurance providers? I've only had a flat in the past and this was all in the service charge.

Tks for any advice.

Hey hun, that stamp duty is a killer aint it? Clearly the govt needs it tho...how else can they raise money. Oh hang on how about selling peerages for cash, that'll work!

Anyhoo, try CIS insurance. They do good rates for buildings and contents www.cis.co.uk ive found.

hth :)

Thanks - have checked it out. Gives me a good start for comparable quotes.

Cheers Spidey.

Theres an insurance comparison thing on Moneysupermarket i think.

1stquote was by far the cheapest when i bought the insurance for my new house. Approx £130 cheaper for buildings and contents.

Try Lloyds, give them a call as it saved me loads picking and choosing what i wanted on the policy for the house.
