I do like...
I spent all of today with a RAT pack and some of the riders had them...they seem to handle quite well in the twisties as well. :)

Ditto, first thing I thought.

Nah, not for me.

Not for me, but I'm gladd there's variety out there.

Looks like a big heat shield on the exhausts.

Thanks but no thanks Quiff. If it's got to be a classic then it's got to be a proper one.

I really liked the look of those when it first came out, then I saw it in the flesh and started to get worried.... How could I have the inclination to "like" something that hideous

Er no, it's not for me....

Same here! Each to their own though! Variety is the spice of life etc etc.

It's a Triumph. What else do you need?

If it gets the born agains from buying 1000cc race reps and killing themselves it's a good thing

I think they're very cool and I like how Triumph have built them to trade on their past glories. I mean it's better than a Harley ain't it?

Come on fellas,it has not been produced as an alternative in the pretty stakes with modern bikes. It's not about that at all.

It's all about a certain era of bikes, but hopefully without the associated oil leaks. Good on Triumph for giving it a go. After all Paul Smart and Mike Hailwood rep's aren't exactly pretty by today's standard but Ducati brought them out and have sold quite well.

I agree with P.H on that, Although not to my liking, but I really do like the new THRUXTON 900.

I like the scrambler thingy - it'd make me feel all 'Steve McQueenish' with, as said, none of the associated oil leaks etc.

I'm not saying it way up there on my list of bikes to buy, but if someone was to give me one I'd keep it.

I don't like the scrambler... It's the pipes, is all. The rest of the bike is just fine but the side pipes look ridiculous to me. Sid Squid likes it because he remembers when all bikes looked like that, but I never wanted a bike till after the invention of the underseat so there's no appeal for me.

Triumph's retros strike a good balance though- they sit comfortably between Royal Enfields (**** but authentic) and Ducati Sportcs Classics (great, but about as authentic as the Turin Shroud). Wouldn't mind a Thruxton.

Turin Shroud? Who rides one of them then?...What? :P

Scrambler is Ace! I took one out a few weeks back! Was fine till I had it at 100mph (on a private road) round a corner and it started weaving! doh

It was a great laugh - only problem I found was it was tall (and I'm short), and it was heavy! Cornering was great, straight lines felt slow but was followin other half who was on a Rocket! doh

That answers my question of what on earth is it and which age group is it aimed at those born in the 1900's?

whilst I like the style of both the scrambler and the Thruxton, both suffer the same limitations, both make power on a par with the SV but are heavier by far, the suspension is also limited, relaxed riding they'd be OK, but anything more would be frustrating.

they are a lot of bike for not a lot of money, and do look good (saw a army green tribute scrambler in lilleys) but I'd go for a Thunderbird sport before one of these, as it has the speed triple brakes/suspension and more power.

Cheers Mark.
