I find the feeling after a big mile day very strange, tired yet elated, when you're off the bike you think you should get back on it.

Well done, was your bum sore? And how warm were you?!

Ahhh, a Transalp, my better half sold one of those to get his SV - lovely bike. Bet your bum wasn't sore - it's seat is so comfortable.

570 in a day is good work.

Did about 350 on monday which wasn't to bad.
Final stint of 150, my knees where really stiff though.
Quite pleased that the fuel light wasn't on after that distance either.

thats exactly it! mind you towards the end heading down the A21 i was a nightmare i covered from tunbridge wells to my house in hastings in 25 mins. i knew i was going too fast but was finding it difficult to slow as it felt too slow (if that makes sense!) been a while since i've done more than 250 - 300 miles in a day though bum was fine, legs were stiff, eyes were bloodshot and was soaking wet with sweat (yuk!)

Off to Scotland for a week 3/8/06 and if we dont do at least 400 miles a day, I'll be mighty dissapointed.

Off to Scotland for a week

A couple of years ago I went camping at Glen Nevis. Last day; Fort William to Staines (Heathrow) (525 miles) in 10 hours 15 mins...........................

In a Vauxhall Astra Diesel!!!!
You should manage to better that!!

You should be able to do the whole trip without stopping for fuel in an astra diesel!
3-4 stops for an SV could slow things down a bit

You're right about the fuel. We had one food stop at Leicester Forest! As I don't have a car licence Chris had to do all of it as it was his co. car! I could see the bags growing under his eyes. It was also a heat wave and we had no air con!
