Hi

well this is doing my head in.

I bought a Remus carbon GP road legal jobbie (the oval one).
According to the site i bought it from (calsport/caltech?), it has a removable baffle.

well theres one pop rivet going in the tailpipe.... sod it.... image coming up.

Right, I drilled the rivet out the bottom, but that inner pipe thing will NOT budge.
am i on the right track here? thats the baffle, yeah? did i just waste part of my life? is it even removable? Argh, i thought it would just slide out.

Any help appreciated,

Cheers!

Yep you're on the right track. Drill the rivet out and then you should find that if you grab the baffle with a pair of pliers and wiggle / twist it whilst trying to pull it out it'll come free.

It was a bit of a b*gger to get the baffle out of e.d.s Remus but it will come out.

Will it do any damage?

I mean i can see the errr...padding? wadding?? (rockwool ) in there, it looks like it could get damaged if i give the inside tube a yank.

also, how easy does it go back in?

I kinda hoped when they said 'removable', they meant like a 30 second job.

Arhhh well, its bound to sound better out than in, ill give it a yank tomorrow, cheers for the quick reply bud!

When we removed e.d.'s it was fine. No damage. I believe that the packing is contained behind some mesh to create a chamber for the baffle to sit in. Her can has done 17,000 miles with no troubles at all.

As for putting it back in. I wouldn't know we've never put it back in. :D

I'm sure it will be OK, its designed to be removable so it will come out.

It will sound much better. It really does improve the exhaust note. Its a much deeper sound. Much nicer.

Mine came out with the aid of a pair of molegrips before the cans went on the bike, and they are NOT gong to go back on

With Scorpions, it's easier to stick a broom handle up the can from the header end and poke it out :)

well earlier this eve, i took a pair of mole grips (invented in Neport, y'know), gripped, grabbed, pulled, levered, twisted, shouted, swore, and eventually the barstad pulled out!

I must say, it does sound good now. popped like **** when i started it up (choke i guess), and sounds REALLY nice on overrun!

i think it should slot back in ok come MOT time,
