Polishing out a scratch in the exhaust.

Yesterday due to one of the people parking really crap at work I had to squeeze my bike into a tight spot to park, when I left I had to get out of the same spot and I caught my exhaust on his foot peg. The result was one scratched exhaust :x. It's not too bad and the metal polish I have has made it better but I was wondering what product is best for polishing scratches out of stainless Steel?

Sandpaper, going finer and finer to 1200 or 1500 Wet & Dry?
Halfrauds have a mixed pack under a fiver.

Yeah, wet and dry's ideal for polishing metal, starting fairly rough to take out the scratch, then going finer to take out teh polishing marks. A scotchbrite pad- Homebase sell the metalwork ones- is good for second-to-finishing, with autosol to finish off if you want it properly shiny. Myself, I'd not go that shiny, I don't like it- I'd hit it with maybe 600 grit wet, then 1200 wet, then I'd scotchbrite the whole piece to make it look uniform. My grandad taught me "It doesn't matter if it's scratched, as long as all the scratches are going int eh same direction"

In order:
Wet & Dry 600>800>1000>1200
Scotchbrite
Autsol

Just be prepared for it to take a little while, and to get a sore arm!
