do bikes burn oil if so how much as mine was full and i have done 500miles and is now half way is this ok i dont have any oil leaks so what else could it be???

Are you checking the level properly? There is a procedure in the owner's manual. If you overfill the excess will pump up through the breather and burn off. If you check the level properly and you are still using oil then check your compression.

i have not had any problems with any of my bikes ever burning oil not even my sv k4 and its done 16 850 miles . it just seems strange that there are quite a few of the sv's on the site are burning oil .

tolerances on every engine manufactured is slightly different, and run in affects oil consumption. if not broken in properly it's likely to consume more oil.
I think if you ask Suzuki, anything up to 1litre oil consumption per 1000 miles is probably not considered excessive
