well I've been messing around with trying to get a number plate light onto my bike for the MOT but can't find the original connector for it, I'm guessing it's been cut off as it looks like someone's been messing round in there. So I tried connecting it up to the rear light, but not with a proper connector but with just sticking the wires onto the pins just to see if it would work. It did work but then I think I short circuited it by connecting the pins together  The bike is now dead.

Anyway, anyone know what this does to the bike? Does it just blow the fuse, kill the battery etc? I took the battery out and put it on charge and it seems completely dead, hope it'll recover if I give it a long charge. How do I check and change the fuse?

What year bike is it?? I have a curvy and the fuses are located in the tray above the battery. If you have extracted the battery, then finding them should be no problem.

I highly doubt you have done any more harm than blown a fuse.

I think on both the curvey and pointy its a white 2 wire connector that looks the same as the indicator ones, should all come out of the same place on the loom.

thought I'd just give you an update on this. I've got a pointy and had a search around for the fuse and found it (not under the bit that said fuse but under the clear plastic covering bit). Anyway, rather handliy there's a spare fuse there waiting to be used so just stuck that in and the bike comes back to life, thank god :D

That must be a fuse for an aftermarket alarm?

Mine has a spare taped to the wire by the fuse so you can get the bike going again.

now buy a new spare, least you regret not having it when you need it
