about a month ago I decided to give my sv650s a really thorough clean so I stripped all the plastic off, with the front fairing off I got a really good look at the fork stantions and I found small rust pits just above the bottom yoke on one of the stantions, the bike is only just coming up to 1 year old so I shot over to my dealer and submitted it as a warranty claim.

It took Suzuki 3 weeks to respond but I have a new pair of fork stantions waiting at the dealer, getting them fitted on 11th next month - result

So fair warning to K5 owners - watch out for rust breaking through the chrome on the fork stantions it could have been a bad batch.

Dealer is Marriott motorcycles, Birkenhead and I have no complaints about them (yet)

I noticed a couple of spots on my K3 the other day, that is only two years old. Can one polish them out?

From a functional stance i think it no problem if its above the bottom yoke. Its more likley to happen there as it does not get cleaned as often. I would say give it a clean then wipe it over with some wd or other oily stuff to keep it from getting rusty again. I am only taking about the part above the bottom yoke.

Warranty is 24 months from first registration.

I initially cleaned up the stantions with autosol and sprayed them with ACF50 - that made them look good as new.
