its not the car thats so lovely thatsr causing me to post this,

just the fact that you would think and hope that in this day and age with a mass prouced vehicle you could have it more than 23 miles before the turbo gives up and it dies....

apparently not mr renault..

que small violins,,,,

iv now spent 8 hours of my precious holiday trying to sort out a car for going on holiday which i am late for... thank goodness i didnt book a last minute . com and am going in britten...

Bad luck dude.
French cars have never really had a reputation for reliability
Was it brand new ? If so that is V poor indeed. What model is it ?

Jap cars are the way forward IMHO.

Wow, what renault was it then?

That'll teach ya to be a boy racer and buy a turbo wont it ;)

Surley if its only 23miles you can reject the car as "not being fit for purpose" and demand a new one, no?

My Missus has a Renult Scenic. "51" plate and she's had it 2 years. 24k miles in total.

Biggest pile of crap we've ever owned - it's cost me (yes, I know it's her car  ) almost £400 in the last two months for repairs, including the starter motor and two coil-packs.

My 6-year old Suzuki hasn't even blown a light-bulb never mind broken down.

You want quality then get a Japanese car that's build in Japan. Or, failing that, get a Honda.

 They're made in Swindon or somewhere arent they ? My 03 Accord seems pretty well screwed together never the less.

Mrs Tricky has a Yaris, got recalled for a mod a few months ago and they gave her a bottle of wine to make up for the inconvenience !

Must admit, I agree with you there, recently bought the new Civic great looking car, before that was CRV and before that another Civic. I can honestly say apart from tyres and regular service costs we've had trouble free motoring for the last 10 years.

I'm with Tricky, If you want a reliable car, look no further than the Japanese.

Wouldn't touch french with a barge pole... Wasn't one of those hideous Meganes was it?

Well perhaps going against the grain a little...I have a Citroen Diane(with sun roof 8) ) which now has 540'000km on the clock. As good as new and hell I have never so much as changed a tyre on it!

A guy at work got a M3 convertible from new and the other day it literally blew up damaging his house, his other car and the neighbours. Apparently it went in with an electrical fault which was apparently fixed but looks like it wasnt. Cause it was the electrics if they failed while he was in the car it would think someone was stealing it and lock the person in the car. How considerate of BMW

I have a Pug and it has been perfectly ok. Done 40,000 miles on it without a blip.

Would buy another...but I think Jap cars or another VW would be a better idea.

I know someone who works for Citroen and he hates them! Doesn't rate them at all!

He calls them 'Terminators' because they will always be back!

if it is a relatively new model, then it is pretty common to have little problems here and there. usually all coverred by warrenty. Lesser problems as the model matures itself in the marketplace. that includes german and jap cars.

I like french food and french clothes, but would never buy one of their cars. They're all assembled on a Friday afternoon after a wine and cheese lunch.

BRING IT ON!!!!!

Still,at least they aren't held together with Cable-Ties like your name-sake cars are!

NOW they ARE bad cars! Fibre-glass,(Burns well  ) Pink carpet glued to the inside of the doors,(Not all I know),Ford switchgear,(Hmm,how much do they cost?),Upside down,LHD Fiesta rear lamp units!(NICE!)

Unlike the Beemers, which are built by Zee Germans, and they do know how to build a Car,so if people were to lose the stigma about beemers and their drivers, they are a damn fine car!

Does anyone drive a SEAT?

Could I tell some horror stories about them! (although I am bound by Zee Germans NOT to,as they own the company, and I could be Zhott for doing so!)

French cars, i say no more......

Citroen, pug etc, all terrible...

Just check out any german car, then any french car.

Just check the quality of materials used. Even against a similar chap brand like Ford or Vauxhall, the quality is awful.....

Hence why the Megan 225 is SO far behined the competition (VXR, Golf GTi, Focus ST, Civic Type R, Leon Cupra R etc).

Well the car was a brand new Renault Megane 1.5dci

The problem turned out to be a broken turbo solanoid..

I have wasted 8 hours of my holiday trying to get it sorted so i am not amused,

The car is now fixed and its great,

as for choosing a jap car, as its a company car i was VERY limited in my options,

although i could have got a honda Jizz... sorry Jazz.

ho hum, tis all fixed now and its grand,

however the 307 hire car i had isnt worth even mentioning, its that horrible...

fingers crossed for the next 75 000 miles iv got to have it for....

:)
