I just purchased MCN this morning and turning to page 2 my jaw nearly dropped: :notworthy:

Kawasaki Versys 650
It is a new trailie using the ER6 parallel twin engine (gentle riding will see 50mpg in town and 65mpg+ on the motorway I hear). It is expected at the end of the year for probably £5500. If the price is below that I think I will be keeping my eye on it as it seems to be perfect for my riding.

Its ugly in a super-cool way - I thought that only BMW could do that?!
Probably what Suzuki tried to do with the V-stroms but only ended up with ugly.

hmmmmm i'm 50-50 on this one. Some bits look great while others just dont do it for me.

maybe it'll be diffrent when seen in the flesh.

It's got a very Mille-esque swingarm.
I like it. I think if I were buying a new bike to do what that does, it would be a contender.

Interesting reaR swing arm and exhaust. Look very sporty.

The side view in the silver colour doesn't look that great I think. Mind you - a lot of ugly bikes turned out to be good looking in flesh.

Odd looking, but it's better looking than a Multistrudel!!!!!

For some reason it reminds me of a TDM - that kind of style I think... I dont mind it... :)

With the ER6F at 4200 and ER6N at 3800 it looks a tad expensive

Now that I like, proper ugly - thus wonderful.

I agree...too expensive for what it is. I like the looks though...and the price will certainly fall when no-one buys it :D

Yes...I like.

The new Z1000 looks ok - not as "tough" looking as the original though....

The inside of a skip. At least if you crashed it, it'd look better, maybe that's what you call fail-safe.

Well, I like it :) I've nearly pinned down the thing that it looks like, it's Final Fantasy of some sort... One of the robots.

That profile shot of it makes it look so uggo/pretty!

Watch that sweeping line through the bike. The more I look the more I want.

Bad Marky! Bad!

I saw a picture a few weeks ago (think in MCN) of a few bikes based on the er6 one was a supermoto that looked quite good. If they brought it out I might be intrested. I was going to get a ER6F but got my Sv650s for £400 cheeper. I feel I did the right thing.

Don't like it, but I never liked road trailies anyway.

Very nice in the red, with the high bars and the low exhaust for the bungees.

Iansv
26-07-06, 06:25 PM
Well they've nicked the exhaust from a buell... the headlight looks totally weird, and its well... damn ugly... but I sure it'll have something about it

I was very disappointed in the z1000 as it was one bike i was very interested it, looks like they've pacified the look too much

I'm 50/50 on this looks nicer than the faired ER6.

Its more multistrada/TDM as said above than trail. Not that theres anything wrong with that. These style of bikes are great for UK and European roads as anyone whos seen Mark on the TDM will tell you.

They may bring out one to replace the KLR in full trailie style which would be interesting I guess.

V-strom fans/haters note that I rode trails with someone riding two up on a strom 650 and it was absolutely amazing. Ok a very good rider but other than lacking a little ground clearance it was a great tool for the job. They do work.

Wouldn't touch it with a stick. Prefer to be riding my 1,000 pound curvy rather then looking at this ugly mother every morning.

Probably cheap to insure, leave it where you like no one would steal it.

Looks-wise, it's wonderful — really nicely styled. But why do they always think that everyone wants to move on to a sportsbike after they've had an "entry level" bike for a couple of years, and not produce a truly grown-up version of this sort of machine with first clas brakes, suspension, and another 25-30 bhp? Because if they did, I for one would be queueing up for one. As it stands, sadly I think I'll leave it.

BMW has. It is their F800 range(F800S, F800ST, and yet to be released F800R and F800GS. They have 85bhp+ engines with 86NM torque but slightly pricey)

jonboy
31-07-06, 02:25 PM
Yes the F800R, when it comes out, will certainly be worth looking at (the Christian Pfeiffer stunt bike is gorgeous), but it's simply a naked bike and not the same as the street/super-moto style that the Versys/MultiStrada/TDM offer.
