yes, while tinkering with my bike (tyre pressures and general messing about)i noticed that the right hand grip had rotated round the bar,i 'fixed' itby turning it back while holding the switchgear and sheared the throttle tube i.e the switchgear housing has a bit of the tube in it and the rest is inside the grip itself .i believe its just the throttle tube that i'll have to replace.is this a dealer job or can anyone give some pointers or better still ,come over and do it (for cash of course) if i buy the bits ? 1/4-1/5 turn r6 throttle tube i think.my bikes gubbed please help  :-({|=

What model do you have again? I'm sure I've got a standard one in a box somewhere, for a proper SV anyway :) Never bheard of one breaking before, mind.

its a curvey andy ,same (well sortof)as yours ,on a y (2001).ive just been on to mickey oates and they want 17£ for the part and its £22 for them to do it!its just the tube that i need ,cant even work out how to split the switchgear never mind loosening off the cables.its a job that im not really confident of tackling as i think theres potential for me to balls something up big time with the carbs/cables .if u have one ill take it and then onto the fitting (dealer maybe/)

Yeah, no probs. Though it's the perfect time to fit an R6 tube, they're only £7 or thereabouts :) That's not a bad price for the fitment, considering what a shower they are, but I'll do it for a couple of biscuits ;) Might need to wait till next week though. Replacing the tube is dead easy, it's about 2 screws and some mucking about really, but the throttle cables might want tweaking afterwards.

yeah its the throttle cables that have me concerned ,im sure i could fumble the other bits and get it right eventualy ,but the cables ,id b btr leaving that to someone who knows what theyre doing .but if youre willing to come through(id cover your fuel no worries there)then wae hay id be forever in your debt  i dont know the exact r6 tube your on about (new shape /yr etc)so thats why i was thinking along the lines of the stock one ,but ideally id rather have the r6 one as that sounds btr will i pm u on this ?
