View Full Version : For Northy! HARLEY'S!
As me and Northy have been discussing these in the 'Pirates of the Caribbean 2' thread, thought I'd start a thread on it's own! Not gonna Hi-Jack someone elses completly!!
Anyway,as we were saying.....................
Well,I know what you mean with the Sportster,it's quite basic so there is alot of room for tinkering!
When I've taken my Dad's one out,I can't help feeling there is more to be had from the Engine. It revs ok,but the power is so low in the rev range, that there is little point in revving it high.
This doesn't suit my riding style much,as I tend to REV things.
But I like it in a wierd sort of way.
The V-Rod is another story altogether........................
Isn't it a sportster engine in the buell?
Probably...........Haven't got a clue,I only know what I know about the Harley's because of my Dad being into them!
I'm sure it's a tuned sportster lump and they aren't that bad!!!!!
And thats my next bike(the fire bolt)
Hmmmm, that XB12R is luvvly!! Especially in Black with the red!!!
I think I want one!!!!!!
Trying to convince the wife will be the hardest part she thinks the pillion seat is too small!!!!

aint got a clue?
My mate has a XB12 lightning, had it from new and its an 04 plate.
He does lots of miles and rides it in all weathers.
Had one drive belt snap and thats about the only trouble hes had. I think it cost about £200 fitted to replace (but don't quote me on that).
He loves it.

Hello!
The Buell belt was redesigned last year apparently, doubled the service life and should cut if not stop the breaks. I like Buells... Specially the City X. But don't worry about the belt, worry about the stinkingly awful gearbox- everyone thought the City X was supposed to be an urban weapon, but no- it's actually City? X- riding the thing in heavy traffic was a torture session. Get it out on a B road and it was absolutely magic though.

theres a new clutch design on the 06 too which makes it lighter, as you say tho northwind this is exactly what my mate said "horrid in traffic but great on the open road"
Oh dear...........I've got the "I wants", for a Firebolt! I knew this would happen!!!!
