View Full Version : ACE Cafe London 6th August
Peeps from the SWS. Now I've been to the ACE Cafe and think I 'might' be able to remember where it is, and that this week is Streetfighter Sunday according to there web site.
If anyones interested It would be good to tale the A roads there via Cirencester and around Oxford to get there for about lunchtime. Maybe even persuade one of our number (Anna) already in London to meet us there for a mug of tea.
More info at http://www.ace-cafe-london.com/
The route, time and start point will depend on who's interested in going.

Might make it a bit less rammed perhaps.
OK, we have a plan :D
We'll meet up on the A420 just outside Nam but after the Ford esses before it reaches the A350, there's a layby that I'll be at at about 10 mins to 11. From there we'll head to Cirencester on the A429 on to the B4425 to Burford then heading on the A40 past Oxford and on to London to the A406 and its just off that.
We could hop off the A40 onto the M40 for a few miles to miss the built up areas at junction 5 before Stokenchurch I guess signed Ibstone, which would make a lot of sense.
See you at 11 on the A420.
I'll meet you at the ACE cafe about 1.30 ish please ring if you get there first etc etc..
Now meeting at the Cepen Park pub just off the A350 in Chippenham. Text or PM me if you have trouble finding it
good to see you guys thanks for coming over .. fantastic day was had by all and squirell got a lesson in burn outs from TSM!!
weather was fantastic as were the stunts that were being pulled off right infront of four police riot vans
Well I think the London lot have certainly shown us Bristol townies a thing or two in how to hold a bike meet!!
Although it took me the same amount of time to get from south london to the ACE as it did for you guys to get from Bristol to the ACE!!!! (and no before you ask I didnt get lost once!!)
I will obviously be catching up with you guys when I get back as I will have new tyres to scrubb!!

Sorry I couldn't make this one, sounds like you had a good day out. :(
Stretchie's curse with all things mechanical struck again this morning so I couldn't make it back to Bristol to get my gear on & come out to play.

What happened?
OK, right from the 'old' Beenz mouth.
The mechanical problems that beset Stretchies bike on the bike apparantly popped in to his the car whilst over in Weston Super Mud. Car would not start. No way for the honorary northern chapter to join us.
Squirrel and a newbie Andy on a yammy 600 and I did the decent think and went to London. Which was nice.
All pretty uneventfull apart from the usual nutters that can't see bikes on roundabouts. Oh and somone stole the A40 signs after Oxford which threw us onto the rather dull M40 (sorry chaps) but after a short stop and a spot of clock watching we decided to carry on.
We just parked up the bikes near Ace and we were spotted by our long lost MoFo Anna.
The day went really well, saw lots od burnouts, wheelies that would make a bald mans hair curl and stoppies that better imodium. A cracking time.
Good also to catch up with TSM (no charge for the tool kit useage mate :) ) and MT who I believe has the same bike as VB but has not taken it apart quite so often
One or two other bods were there but I didn't remember the names sorry
A steady ride back popping into the odd pub for food seeing the price then popping off via others that only served till three  Ended up eating at the pub in Nam and annoying a wasp with a beer glass.
Bottom line, a top day out......... although allegedly my can is not the loudest of the MoFos according to the word of Anna (can't dispute that can we ?).
Thats it!
Oh and Andy was told to get some eggs and spuds on the way home by missus Andy, Squirrel thought they'd have scrambled eggs and spuds, and was right!

Was a good day out. The road up had some good twists but a fair bit of traffic, less on the way back though.
The Ace was good, my first time there but the Stunt Show under the bridge was fantastic. Was amazed it lasted so long before the police stepped in with their riot vans. The guy riding his R1 sitting on the tank was impressive and I would never have gussed that anything like what was seen could have been done on a GS500 (without an exhaust). Unfortunatly no pics from me (see last thursday).
Good to meet everyone and I look forward to going back.
Though the less said about my burnout the better. I blame cold front brakes, more pratice me thinks.

ohhhh mate looks like you are having a bit of bad luck.. must be that El Saxo's curse!!! ;)
Hope you get your toys fixed soon.

Just booked the SV in for its 7.5K service, a week on Thursday so going easy on the miles a tad.
Whilst at the shop...
.......I did see an attractive alternative to my SV though..... and a good price offerred for mine in PX as well. .. :-k

alternative... oh dear what have you been drooling over now???
Lets just say that I'd stand to loose £100 per 1000 miles on my bike since I got it. Looks like a tempting offer but not sure about the timing, will need a test ride, they'll phone me.

I know of a Thundercat that could be had for very little cash, needs a bit of work though...
Anna - Not sure if it's me or Stretchie that's cursed considering what happened this weekend

So whats happened? Is Stretchies car fixed? Are we back to normal, except he has no bike? WHo was that mystery person? And would Stretchie have gotten away with it if it wasnt for them pesky kids? And other questions that demand answers.

Car needed a new battery, which it now has...
Unfortunately the old one was only found to be deader than a dodo yesterday morning, while we were still in Brent Knoll at Stretchie's sister's house, so I couldn't get back to Stretchie's in time to get my gear on etc & meet you all for the rideout to the Ace. :(
To compensate I took a bit of a detour via S.Wales on the way home today
His bike is still poorly, but hopefully something will be sorted soon involving a hire van and a new gearbox
A big, big thank you to Stretchie for putting me up (or should that be 'putting up with me'?) for the weekend, and hopefully I'll be back sometime soon to do it all again, only without all the mechanical problems this time...
