Sounds like you guys had a good few days!! Despite the abysml weather..

Went out on the Saturday, got drowned despite waterproofs and turned around at the Green Welly. The 9R was trying to kill me in the wet (i.e Rear end trying to overtake the front end  ). Woke up on Sunday morning, looked out of the window and saw nothing but grey skies and driving sideways rain. So stayed at home. The kawasaki can be mental in the dry, but on wet roads it's nicknamed the "widowmaker". Quite a few folks here have seen the 9r skip out violently on wet roads. It did it on Saturday on the M8 at 75mph in the fast lane without any warning :!: :!:

I need to get a digi camera and a helmet cam for the next rideout..
Whens the next one anyway??

Not very often. That's why I was so slow :) I couldn't get any hustle going on on the wet stretches, so I ended up just sat behind cars for ages. I think everyone passed me at least once ;) PatrickUK seemed to go past me about 40 times...

Better to be safe then sorry mate!! 8)

had a good blast along glen coe until some silly cow decided to stop her car in the middle of the road and put on her hazzards. didnt want to overtake as i thought she had hit a sheep so nice steady hard braking from 110 to 0. soon as i stopped hazzards were switched off and she carried on driving. looking at the bloody hills. could have slapped her

Sorry to sound like I'm preaching... but what if she hadn't put her hazards on? She could have had a genuine reason for stopping and at 110 I wouldn't be able to tell. I'd be grateful she did cos some people don't even bother.

if she hadnt have put her hazards on i would have overtaken her. the road is long and you can see for miles, putting hazards on while stopped on a straight bit of road threw me slightly, i assumed there was a hazard.

Yup, but it wasn't so much that, I just didn't have the will to progress... I ended up in monday commuting mode because of the rain I think ;)

Fair comment but she did have the courtesy to put them on. No matter her reasons, you slowed down and you're home safe and sound. :)

She would probably have used her indicators to pull in then. I'm not defending her or having a go. I lived in Ballachuilish and travelled that road daily for years. I've seen ****eloads of crazy tourists stopping on straights but ask any local and they'll always be grateful for the ones that use their hazards.

Might've been a wasp in her car...who knows.

One thing though...the Grouse season started on 12 Aug so there's all kinds of wildlife wandering onto the roads courtesy of the beaters so there's no way on earth I would be doing 110 there.

Glad you all had a great time

I had intended on turning up on saturday, but when I seen the rain I thought " no chance" I'm not keen on riding in the wet  I then thought "lets see what its like tomorrow" :?: Woke up this morning, looked out the window and thought "no chance"

I did want to see the Dukes Pass though  so I jumped in the car and headed to Aberfoyle. Went over the Dukes Pass, and thanked myself for not bringing the bike  I like to ride fast, I like sweeping bends etc etc but I can't see how you could gather any speed on that road without putting yourself or others at risk :?

Anyways, hopefully make the next rideout

Grouse season started on 12 Aug

No chance of hitting grouse, they all ran away when they heard me, Exi and Patrick coming with pipes on song at 130 (thats kilometres per hour officer!).

Sorry Tiger 55, didn't realise you were behind us at warp button point. Didn't see you at the roadworks and thought it was only Justmac behind who's got more sense than the rest of us and was happy to potter along on his own.

Might've been a wasp in her car

Nah, if she was scared enough of wasps to bring the car to a halt, doors would be open and she'd "bee" (sorry! bad pun!) jumping about with arms flailing! Just a tourist who decided the scenery warranted a quick photo.

No apology necessary shipmate. It's not for the 'fast' guys to slow down, it's for the former 'intermediates' to recognise that they are now 'slow' and find a group to bimble along with. I'm depressed now, but I'll get over it.

Mind you, we spoke in a layby about 5 minutes before the roadworks ("Where did you come from?" quoth you) so you could've guessed I was there...

Oh aye. So we did. I think I've posted about my amnesia issues on here before...I think...can't remember...

If anyone owes an apology its me. I thought Justmac was just letting me pass at that turnoff having been a bit close behind him for some time and when I realised that you weren't following I should've stopped and waited. I kinda thought you'd catch me up in Glen coe anyway, and that you two would at least still be together?? In future I'll pull over!

You can't, really. Not on a lot of it anyway. But that's fine, it's a great road at any pace. You see some folks really knifing it, which is mental around most of the limited visibility corners, but it's their life... I like to take it a bit slower and get really technical on it instead, put the bike exactly where it should be, then up the pace as I carry on. Very rewarding like that... Then, hoon down the big S after the visitor's centre, of course :)

I hear what your saying Northy, when I do take the bike down the dukes pass I'll tackle it exactly like that

*groan*  Apologies for saturday morning....
A lot of the blame has to be laid at the feet of a certain young lady who frequents the forum but doesnt ride, a certain mr Patrickuk, mr pegasus and the three redheads who turned up at our table late on friday night... Was nice to meet some of you at Balloch but the 30mile trip back to stirling in the rain didnt help my health much either  I did however have a brilliant days riding on sunday with some other southerners and a very knowledgable and quick ecosse sv rider whose name just escapes me at the moment  Managed to get the daytona airborne 3 times on a little road heading toward Pitlochry

Again, no apology is necessary. In fact, will people please stop apologising?! :nomore:

I have no clue what happened during the Great Ballachulish Shuffle but you had time to stop and take pictures of the scenery and I still didn't catch up so I wouldn't worry too much about it

Mind you, I didn't go over the bridge, which was the only direction Nutty gave me...

You were so stunned by the scenery it compelled you to take up amateur dramatics.
