military road is lovely and smooth. its the road they use to transport nuclear weapons. goes over the top of the hill to faslane from A82. Managed an almost constant 110mph along it. fantastic road
Great pics, actually looks like some decent weather up there ;)

I thought that was the B851 from Craggie (Just south of Inverness on the A9) that runs into the B862 toward Fort Augustus at the bottom of Loch Ness.
hope this is the rigt road.
I did it last year with my dad, nice road, tarmac, you wouldn't like it.
fantastic pics there .. and not everyone gets a Dr Rich approval of honorary MoFo status .. welcome aboard!!

What's a MoFo?
Looks like you had a great day out. 8)
MoFo status? I thought it's an automatic response to get a Mr Whippy ice cream if a Ice Cream van etc is near.

Just been told by a bloke from Aberdeen on advrider that General Wades Military Roads are mainly under Forestry Commision control or fall on private land and are closed to vehicles. :(

He's bang on - they're protected "monuments" now.

Which, TBH can be a good thing. I dont advocate chewing everything up and like a quiet hike myself. Just a shame when there's nowhere. Best avoid the monuments, tho don't want a small scale version of the ****ing on the alamo incident :-)
A guy on advrider contacted Scotways who do something or other with rights of way and he posted this:
'They posted me a printed sheet detailing 148 (not 142) rights of way with start and end grid references. I scanned this into an excel spreadsheet and calculated the length of them (direct route from start to finish, not the actual length on the ground):
80 are less than half a mile.
38 are between .5 mile and 1.0 miles.
The longest is 4.9 miles but before you get excited, this is now a 'C' class road!'
So thats that then
Sorry for the derail again Nutty, but at least you know your pics where most 'stimulating'
