Have to sale my beloved bike due to the fact I've not been out on it much since I got it in 2004 (only 4 times) but due to family reasons need the cash the now & theres no point it sitting in the garage when someone can get the use ut of it....!

So for a bike in showroom condition & the engine is only just be broke in.!

If it is any consolation, I am having trouble getting mine sold as well.

Suzuki forever extending their 'Ride away for £1' hasn't helped and now they are offering extras for £100 on top of list :evil:

No wonder they won the MCN award this week for their sales and marketing :x

I recently sold my K3 (04 plate). Was completely stock apart from, crash bungs, fork springs and emulators and a tail tidy.

I put it on here, eBay and in Bike Trader. Got a tiny amount of interest from here (most members already have SV's!), more from eBay, although those buyers really wanted to pay low prices. The winning buyer came from the Bike Trader ad.

£0 - sv650.org posting
£10 - eBay listing (no final fees added as it didn't sell)
£27 - Bike Trader - 2 weeks on the website + 1 week in the magazine

Things worth noting:

1 - Everyone who showed an interest had recently passed / about to take their tests.

2 - No-one really seemed bothered about the mods (at the time I had GSXR front brake setup, + shock) and therefore didn't see the value or have the knowledge of what they were adding to the bike. (Because of point 1)

3 - The questions that came up again and again were:

- Has it been service regularly by a dealer?
- How much Road Tax/ MOT is left
- How many miles are there on the clock?
- How much tread is left on the tyres?

4 - By restoring the bike to stock (almost) and selling all the bits separately, I was able to reduce the price to a point at which it generated much more interest. Selling the bits separately meant that I got much closer to a figure I was happy with.

5 - At this time of year, you can pick up a brand new SV with 2 years warranty for ~£4000

I know what you mean Luke I've had very little intrests off of here but had quit a bit since I put it in Ad-Trader, some time wasters but think I might have a sold now...!

Dont really want to sale it but if this guy buys it I'll have to try and prise my fingers open to give him the keys :cry:
