On my way to work today i was happily sat a mini roundabout waiting for the guy on the right to turn in. Next thing i know im about 5 foot further forwards and have a small brown stain on my seat. Someone hit the back of me, fortunetly i was hit on the tyre on the right of his bumber so he missed my silencer... Is it likely that about a 10mph impact on my back tyre is going to break anything? my bike didn't seem to handle any different. Just want to know if its worth taking it to the grage or not on monday.

Check tyre for damage(bubbles or tears) and check rear wheel alignment, if the chain tension has altered will be a good indication.

This happened to me about 2 years ago, typical that it was a BMW M5 convertable :toss: that hit me from behind. I remember being overcome with rage and leaving the SV on its side stand in the middle of the roundabout, storming over to his car and trying to rip him out :smt013 . I was pounding my fists on his window and only calmed down when I saw he'd done absolutely no damage to my bike and somehow caused all his bumper and tacky/chav plastic bits to be in bits on the floor. Of course I saw the funny side and after making some comment about money doesn't but brains or a bigger penis I was on my way. B*****d SMIDSY :evil:

Anyway, my point was if you think it'll help your confidence get it checked out by all means, but if it still feels the same and there's no obvious damage I'd save the money and not take it in.

Surely if he hit you then the checks should be done at his expense? I assume you got his details?

Impacts on a tyre can cause damage to the carcass that can't be seen and can mean the tyre needs to be junked. Dunno if a 10mph ding would do it tho.

Someone I know was reversed into at a slower speed than this and the impact actually dented his rim! :shock:

I was rear-ended on 21st August last year. Low-speed impact. The rear had 6500 miles on it by then :shock: Got a new one on the insurance as well as replacement plastics, can, etc.

No structural damage to the bike at all.

Made a mess of the Fiat Punto Sporting though :lol:

To my shame, I reacted like Carlos and only calmed down when I saw that the driver was a very pretty, slightly built young lady whom I was frightening to the point where she was visibly shaking. Not proud of that at all.

In summary, get your bike checked over at his expense although I doubt there's structural damage and certainly get a new rear tyre off the ****.

alrighty then, im going to take it to the garage on tuesday and see what they say. Thanks for the advice :)
