waxing? i had my legs done about 5 years ago but had problems with in growing hairs
now fed up shaving and was going to wax again. any tips
also never had bikini area waxed but am going to consider it. how sore on a scale of 1 - 10 is it. 10 being giving birth with no pain relief to a 9 lb 6 baby.

11, but yer man will appreciate it
Bikini line - well having never given birth - so having no frame of reference - I can only imagine that it's like that, but condensed into a split second of sheer agony.
After that it's kinda like just after a tattoo for a bit.
I'ts supposed to get less painful each time it's done (a familiarity/tolerance thing I guess) but having it done once was enough to make me have second thoughts. :?
Personally I use the 'Veet - Ready To Use Wax Strips' without too much trouble.
After an off road bike tumble took most of the skin from the front of both my legs (after the gravel had stripped away my leathers!) they have since been somewhat sensitive to stuff like this.
It also means I often have a similar problem regarding in-growing hairs, but fine that the occasional use of a rough soap (y'know, one of those exfoliating ones with gritty bits in  ) from about week 3 takes care of it.
It seems to clear away the skin to let the regrowing hair through kind of thing.

You could try using an epilator instead.
Hurts like hell at first - so my tip is to have a full bottle of vodka with you when you start.....by the time you've drunk half, you'll barely notice the pain
The pain lessens the more you use it....or maybe you just get used to it :?

If the hair is dark why not try laser?

My girlfreind gets ingrowing hairs - she uses stuff called "Ingrow" that you put on a few days before waxing and a while after, it reduces the ingrowing hairs.
I also get them on my face when i shave. Nowt i can do about it tho, so a pin and tweezers it is to get them out :(

If the hair is dark why not try a Taser?
I guess that one of those shortly before the wax-rip would numb the pain for long enough

I'm with ya, man :(

Hazel dont worry about yer legs. Plus that other problem? Many men find women with facial hair rather attractive. HTH
Should do the trick

Epilator is good- I have one with an ice pack attached to it, and also a massage function- relaxes and numbs the skin before epilation- however once you use it a couple of times, you don't need the extras on it.
As for ingrowing hairs, use an exfoliation pad, it helps a lot.
Your hairs grow back thinner, and you can easily go about 4-6 weeks without needing to epilate.
However, haven't got the courage to do my bikini line or underarms with it yet,.....

Epilating can hurt like hell, but I do it anyway.... Shaving is just minging, you get all stubbly and I've had too many silent cuts... *faints*
Epilating's not so good for the legs I find, because the hairs aren't super thick/strong, some just break and you have to go back and do them again a couple of days later, so wax I find is better for legs (plus I quite like the pain, it's like a twisted sense of smooth satisfaction  )...
On the otherhand, I epilate my underarms. Yes it hurts like a SOAB but it's worth it for 5-6weeks of smoooothness ;-) then as soon as they grow back epilate again, the hairs are thinner and it doesn't hurt as much (looks so much better than 5o'clock underarm shadow  )
I recommend getting waxed by a salon, they don't miss anywhere, and can hold it taught as they pull... plus it hurts less (IMO)...
Bikini doesn't hurt at all IMO, that includes epilating and waxing... exfoliating a week after works too... I do get the odd one in growing hair in my legs, but nothing that a little tweezering can't sort out
My beautician tells me that soaking the area in teatree oil is good for holding back in growing hairs..
You should try a hollywood wax, then you will hit notes than only a soprano can hit
Lazering is the way forward... 3 sessions then you can have a life of smoothness 8)
Good luck Nutty, whatever you do it will be worth it :)
PS Im sorry if any of the above was deemed "TMI".

legs and underarms get waxed - doesn't hurt at all.
bikini wax only around the very edges - not too painful and anything beyond that is silly 'celebrity' magazine-fuelled nonsense.
eyebrows get threaded - hurts like hell but is very neat and better than getting burnt by an incompetent waxer  (yes, i have the scars....)
oh, and regular exfoliating and waxing banishes ingrown hair

He got death threats, so he had to take his show off the air... In the mean time he got engaged to Aussie hottie Isla Fisher.
Anyhoo back to the topic in hand...
Nutty, how did you get on? Any news?
brazillian is not that bad at all.. If youv'e given birth before i'm sure it will be a walk in the park. It hurts at the time but 10 mins later you'll be skipping down the road having forgotten about it.
a hollywood (basically everything) hurts more and is more embarrasing imo....also i found it itched more on regrowth- felt much nicer afterwords, but not really worth it, cost £35 as opposed to £15
I have a real problem with ingrown hairs cos i have afro hair, was gonna try tea tea oil for it. if you are gonna do it, make sure you really look after your skin before and after the wax, perhaps speak to the beautian first about it, i wish i did
Alpinestars, where does your missus get that stuff for hers???

Not particularily useful, but I once got a call at work from my girlfriend at the time... "You've got to come up at lunch" "Sure... why?" "I was shaving my <self>, and I've got my ladyshave caught in my <front> piercing" It was a tough job getting it free. Very hard, it was.

I find that hard to believe... That you had a girlfriend :P
hair is a real problem. There are so many options to get rid....and yet it keeps haunting ya. I went for a bikini wax a couple of times, thought that after the first one (that hurt!) it wouldnt be so bad.....it was, in fact it was worse. Cant be a**sed anymore.... good old shave of the legs and vital areas, easy and convenient .... no ingrowing hairs either. Men have no idea the complications of being a female.... any suggestions for the butt hair .....really am a hairy arsed biker!

Wife and daughters scared me one day with suggestions of booking me in for a back, crack and sack jobby. Good job eventually twigged it as a wind up as I was all for leaving home.
Now my son for some reason shaves his chest, strange boy.
