I just cleaned my 2001 SV for the first time. (don't worry i haven't had it from new!) Its my first ever bike and I've only had it 2 weeks, but i wanted to get it nice and clean for my test on Wednesday.
Anyway, have a Scott oiler fitted so there was crud everywhere - under the bike and all around the back wheel. I got a bit carried away and spayed gunk (degreaser) everywhere and it came up lovely and clean. After cleaning it, i just turned the scottoiler up a few notches and turned the back wheel slowly round for a few mins to re-lube it. (i forgot to buy a spay on lube when i was at the bike shop.)
Anyway i just read in the service manual that cleaning with anything other than Kerosene, or lubing with anything other than engine oil can damage the o rings. It even says that using commercial drive chain lube can damage o rings? Would this include scottoil?
Do u think I've damaged them or am i worried about nothing?
