just the general layout of the site. the colours are all wrong. its too cluttered, too many off site links, and too many irrelevant links.

oh and the fact a lawyer has even taken up the case. lawyers are supposed to be intelligent people aren't they? they should have kicked the bint out the office and told her to get ****ing real.

The lights turned red the other day, preventing me from getting home 1min ealrier.

Perhaps i'll take the goverment to court cos they wasted my time.

Why cant people just accept they missed out? And why ont people have accidents anymore? Why point the finger? WATCH WHERE YOUR GOING!

And laywers? Intelligent? Not these days. Money hungry perhaps.

Sounds like it serves Starbucks right to me. If they start an offer without proper terms & conditions and then are not willing to stand by them.

so if had been mrs miggins coffee shop who'd offered something similar and pulled the plug they'd be sued likewise?

its nothing to do with the fact the company is global, a huge concern and are worth millions perhaps billions and a woman and her unscrupulous lawyer have seen the dollar signs a-flashing?

its a cup of coffee FFS! reality check needed for all concerned

So Keith you are not a champion of the cause of a mere minnow taking on the big conglomerate then? This is a matter of principal man. They conned her! :?

All the more reason to give one out for free if that is what their offer states.

As i understand it, the value of the lawsuit will only be the price of a cup of coffee to each person who joins the class action, no? so the woman will get a couple of $'s (the lawyer a couple of $M's  )

So, suing for how ever many millions is acceptable recompense?

She should be given 1 free cup of coffee. End of.

From the details given, Starbucks sent an email out to employees in a given region. This email contained instructions to pass this along to friends & family.

The same email was then forwarded to people beyond that circle (friends of friends of employees & further etc).

Starbucks, being a business, realised the potential loss. Just because they didn't clearly state that they may withdraw the offer at any given time, without prior notice does not (IMHO) make them in any way at fault.

I agree with keithd, it was a free cup of coffee that was not intended for the persons claiming it. They tried to cheat the system & failed (by claiming something that was never offered to them by the company). Deal with it already!

If I were working in Starbucks, my question would of been "So, which employee do you know that works for our company, there's been a lot of fraudulent claims now, and it's a pain in the rear, but I have to call the store they work in & confirm with them that you know them." Then wait to see if the lawsuit comes in or not...

Treat others as you would like to be treated. Take responsibility for your own actions and grow up.

She tried to con a free coffee, it didnt pan out, get over it.

With regard to the "sue em culture" I was involve in my only 2 car accidents about 10 years ago, first a woman came out a side street into my side, wrote my car off, second got new car and 1 week later someone ran into the back of me at a roundabout. 100% blame to them in each case, liability admitted settled quickly.
Bit sore for a week after the first one, stiff neck for a few days after the second one. Got 11 letters offering to sue for medical costs, shock and emotional/ physical distress. Threw them all in the bin.

I dont think either driver deliberately ran into me, it was an accident, why should I try to put the boot in by sueing them for damages. Think they would have been having a rotten enough time with the guilt, embarassment and increased premiums.

I wouldnt like to be sued for accidently doing something that caused distress to someone else and therefore wouldnt do it to someone else, I wasn't out of pocket (well ok slightly) so as far as i'm concerned a simple apology is all that is required.

Before this gets jumped all over, yes if you get knocked off bike that was 100% someone elses fault then replacement bike (like for like) new leathers lid etc is to be expexted, if your injured to an extent that causes loss of earnings / permanent disability etc then fair enough, but i'm not going to sue for a scraped knee and stiff shoulder, If its a hit and run, ie no remorse / apology then go for the jugular :smt077

Me too - that'll teach 'em for removing a free drinks offer. Never stand in the way of a person who needs their caffine. :)

Well said. I often find it amusing when people try and claim compensation.

something (such as money) given or received as payment or reparation (as for a service or loss or injury)

The above is, I think, a good definition of what compensation is. The woman in question has lost absolutely nothing, which is often the case in compensation cases. For some reason it's usually hurt feelings or something equally frivolous, certainly nothing that qualifies as a loss requiring reparation.

The woman should never drink coffee again - she's obviously an emotional wreck how will caffeine help?

If she feels 'betrayed' by the withdrawal of this offer which has caused her to seek legal advise then she needs a shrink.

The only true crime here is letting this woman out of the nuthouse and allowing laywers to take on these type of cases. Its people like her that make people like us have to pay extortionate insurance premiums and prices on goods and services so companies can afford legal costs/cover. Shoot her and shoot her now.

IMO its just this type of thing that fuels peoples everyday stresses and anxieties which of course adds to medical costs, time off work etc etc.

She needs to get a life and should be ashamed of herself and so should her Lawyer. Stupid woman :x :toss:

Agree.
It's madness but there are poeple out there who take any chance they get to get rich quick.
And it's creeping into the UK fast.

I think it's got a certain style about it- I would love if they get to court then the judge finds in their favour and awards one cup of coffee, but not legal fees.

What would of been more amusing is if she had gotten her free coffee then spilt it on herself and sued for burns and trauma =p

$114m equals the cost of drinks for all those turned away when the company decided to cancel its offer.

He hopes millions of other disappointed customers will join the legal effort.

So is that not the point, she is only claiming the cost of a coffee and expecting so many other people to join her that it will cost starbucks a lot. It will hardly get anyone rich quick. (except the laywers)

Suing for over $100M seems a bit excesive, but they really should have taken more care. Remember the Hoover Free Flights fiasco?
